Default install a torrent of Windows 7 onto a Mac OS X

I'm trying to install a torrent of Windows 7 onto a Mac OS X. A friend I was talking to has both on his computer, and says that all I have to do is press option while the computer starts-- which did not work, needless to say. Do I need to take an extra step to install it, and if so, how do I do that?

tl;dr -- I DON'T SPEAK MAC

Have you used bootcamp to setup a partition for Windows 7?

This guide might be just what you’re after: Using Boot Camp to install Windows 7 on your Mac: The Complete Walkthrough - Simple Help

I don’t have a Mac myself but we do have a few Mac users here so hopefully someone will be able to help you out more.

Yep, you need to use the Bootcamp Assistant which will partition the hard drives and reboot the Mac ready to boot from the Windows 7 Install Disc
