Digiex Download Center 2.0 - Uploading a collection of files

This guide will talk you through the process of compressing and splitting files up ready to be uploaded to the Digiex Download Center.

The Digiex Download Center only allows each individual file uploaded to it to be no bigger than 50mb. This is due to the instable nature of PHP (the scripting language Digiex uses) of handling "posts" of over 50mb. To ensure your downloads are not lost and the stability of the web server, files need to be split up so they are not bigger than 50mb. This can be done in many ways, including splitting each individual file up, though for the convience of everyone this guide will explain the easist way and ensure compression is used to save on bandwidth and disk space.

To follow this guide, you will need to download WinRAR which is available as a free 30 day trial. Alternatives do exist though for this guide we will talk you through WinRAR which is more widely used.

In this walkthrough, laptop drivers are being used to show how it is done, when you are doing it, the files wont look the same.

Walkthrough

First of all, open up WinRAR and locate the files that you want to compress as seen below:

You then need to select the files you want to compress by either dragging over them, or selecting each one individually while holding down 'Ctrl'

Then once you have them all selected, press "Add" as seen below:

You will then see a dialog box come up, on this dialog box you will need to give your selection of files a name.

Then select the "Best" compression method, and enter "52428800" into the split size. Then press "OK" once you are done.

The files will then start to be added to a compressed package.

Once they have done, you should be left with some files ending in ".rar". Depending on the size of your files, there may be more than one split up with "partX"
These are the files you are going to upload to Digiex.

Create a new thread in the relevent section of the Download Center, Fill in the title box with a short name for your collection of files. Then explain your files the best you can in the Message part.

Once that is done, go down to "Manage Attachments", this is where you will attach your files.

A pop up box will appear, on this select "Browse":

A Windows select file box will appear, on this browse to where your ".rar" files are, and select the first one followed by "open":

If you have more than one part, repeat the above process for each file. If you have more than 5, do the first 5 then you can go back and add more.
Once you have finished adding files click "Upload"

Once you have received comfirmation the files have been uploaded, you can close the upload window.

You will then see the Attachments on your original post now included.

Now just Submit your post, and it will appear on the forum with your attachments.
