I was just browising the bbc new website (as you do) reading up on current events and i came across 2 stories which..well quite frankly horrified me:BBC News - Boys aged 10 charged with raping eight-year-old
What sort of upbring must these kids have had so that at the age of 10 they go and rape some poor girl!
Another one :BBC News - Fifty needles found in Brazilian boy
how can the mother claim she does not know how 50!! needles got into her two year old baby!!!

I'm lost for words on those two articles, especially the rape one. But on a more positive note, scientists crack 'entire genetic code' of cancer.

I think we should make this thread a stickie and let users post links to news articles. It would be better than making a new one for every article that someone finds.

BBC News - Sikh judge Sir Mota Singh criticises banning of Kirpan

Read the comments on this article and the vast majority are against this judge and i agree, this is a typical example the increase number of ocurences where religion and this nations laws are in conflict with one another. if i carried a knife i would never dream of using it however it would still be illegal for me to do so...

Agreed, religion shouldn't have any influence on law.

You end up with crazy stuff like the 13 year old saudi girl who was sentenced to 90 lashes after she took a mobile phone to school.

Under Saudi's Sharia or Islamic law, flogging is mandatory for a number of moral offences such as adultery or being alone in the company of an unrelated person of the opposite sex. But it can also be used at the discretion of judges as an alternative or in addition to other punishments.
