"Publishers are getting the living crap kicked out of them by Microsoft," Rob Dyer, Sony's SVP of public relations, told Industry Games in a recent interview concerning Microsoft's publishing policies. But we're getting ahead of ourselves here -- Dyer was provoked by the following information from Microsoft's Content Submission and Release Policy, which forbids its games from being released first or with exclusive content on other platforms:

"Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available. If these conditions are not met, Microsoft reserves the right to not allow the content to be released on Xbox 360."
Xbox Europe's Chris Lewis defended this policy to Eurogamer, saying, "We're a little biased, so obviously we're going to look to protect our own space as best we can and get exclusivity." And that's where Dyer steps in.

"I think what Chris and the other representatives at Microsoft are doing is protecting an inferior technology," Dyer said. "I think they want to dumb it down and keep it as pedestrian as possible so that if you want to do anything for Blu-ray or you have extra content above 9 gigs or you want to do anything of that nature, you'd better sure as heck remember that Microsoft can't handle that."
While Microsoft tries to force path-dependence on its publishers, Sony's more open policy has earned it a relationship with Valve, which Dyer says is a stark advantage for the company and gamers alike. Microsoft has a relationship with Valve too, but it seems like more of a long-distance, second-cousin-once-removed sort of deal

Sounds fair to me, of course Microsoft will protect the 360, if a game has more content on another platform then it will hurt the Xbox 360.

inferior technology - most multi platform games look / play better on the Xbox 360 do they not?

if you want to do anything for Blu-ray or you have extra content above 9 gigs or you want to do anything of that nature, you'd better sure as heck remember that Microsoft can't handle that - L.A. Noire? its not hard to have a game on multiple discs, that could even be done better than the L.A. Noire devs did and allow you to install all 3 and play with just one disc in.

Lots of PS3 games have massive mandatory installs, all 360 games can run perfectly off the disc so having an optional install for people who don't want to change discs would not be bad at all/

The 360 is far from perfect, as is the PS3... however i do think its the better of the two. You would expect someone from Sony to sling mud at Microsoft like that anyway...

    I had a Xbox 360 first & then bought a Ps3 & sold my 360 .
But after a while i found out the the Ps3 network is laggy & not as good as XBox Live . So , i sold my Ps3 again and bought another Xbox 360 .
Now i never looked back at the Ps3 . There are only a couple of games i miss , that are Ps3 only : God of War & Drake's Fortune Series .
Anyway ,here is what i tell people if they ask me what they should buy (Xbox or Ps3 ) :
"If you want better graphics , then buy the Ps3. If you want better online gameplay , then buy the Xbox 360."

Some games look better on 360 while some were better on PS3. GTAIV has 2x anti alising while the PS3 had none, Final Fantasy XIII on the other hand was far superior on the PS3, racking up at 41GB. The graphics were a bit better than the 360 version and a lot of content was cut from the game to make it fit on 3 discs. They said enough content was cut from the disc to make a whole new game, which I don't doubt, 18 or so GB is a far cry from 41GB+. That being said both consoles are flawed, 360 needs bigger disc sizes (excluding XGD3 as they're just trying to stop piracy with their 8.7GB which is bigger than a dual layer) and PS3 with the mandatory install, while playing MGS4 I had several mandatory installs through the game. Also I'm not sure what sony is talking about Valve never wanted to put The Orange Box on PS3 but were forced by EA to and it never really got updated. So I doubt they're terribly fond of Sony.
