Dirt 3 publisher Codemasters has seen a hefty number of redeemable codes for its racing title leaked onto the internet via a promotion with computer hardware manufacturer AMD.

A promotion via the AMD4u site is in place to offer free Dirt 3 codes for purchasers of specific AMD graphics cards.

However, the entire list of codes was discovered and released onto various forums. The exact number of codes leaked is as-of-yet unknown, but it is believed to be in the hundreds of thousands.

However, the codes are for Valve's Steam service, and therefore can be potentially tracked and blocked.

Gamasutra contacted Codemasters, which was keen to stress that it was AMD's site which had been compromised, and not Codemasters'.

"Despite what some sites are posting, it was not a Codemasters site or server on which the Dirt 3 codes in question were comprised, it was AMD's redemption site," Codemasters explained in an email. The company expects AMD to issue an official statement later today. Gamasutra has contacted AMD for comment on the matter.

Back in June, Codemasters revealed that hackers had broken into its site and gained access to its members' personal information last week.

The UK-based company investigated the extent and scope of the attack, and noted that the hackers were able to access its corporate site and sub-domains, its Dirt 3 VIP code redemption page, and more.
my edit they set the keys page to public >
    amd4.com/dirt3promo/keys/ (no longer works)
[UPDATE: AMD has issued a statement clarifying that the revealed codes were hosted on a third-party fulfillment web site, and that neither AMD nor Codemasters servers were compromised in the incident.

"AMD will continue to honor all valid game vouchers, however the current situation may result in a short delay before the vouchers can be redeemed," the statement continues.]

There is a 32mb SQL file with all the codes that can be found very easily, the Steam account you use it on would probably get banned so i don't really think its worth using them.

Might not stop some people creating fake accounts on Steam just to play it! Big mess up here.
