This is the first Zelda game which doesn't take place in Hyrule. One day, Link is out at sea and is hit by a storm. His ship sinks and Link gets stranded on a place called Koholint Island. A girl called Marin finds him and she takes her to her house. From here the game starts. Link gets help from an owl, giving him hints on where to go. Once again Link has to go from dungeon to dungeon, this time collecting instruments. After a while you find out there's a big egg on a mountain on the island, in which the windfish sleeps, and it's up to Link to wake it. Five years after the original release, the game got an update for the Gameboy Color. This update was called Link's Awakening DX. The game was remade in color and it had a new dungeon, called the color dungeon.
