This is the latest Custom Firmware for your PSP. To install this you will need a pandora's battery and a magic memory stick. There are millions of tutorials online so use google.

If you have custom firmware installed already and want to update to 5.00-m33 download the file below and extract it.

Put the folder called UPDATE that you extracted from the first .rar file in the ... PSP/GAME directory.

Go to the Memory stick on Game on the PSP and the file should be there.

Run it and follow the instructions.

    ________________________________

    5.00-M33 version 3

This is an update to the original 5.00-M33 update. It fixes a few things. To install this you MUST have 5.00-M33 installed. Follow the steps above to update.

    UPDATE = 5.00-M33
    500m33_3 = 5.00-M33 Version 3

Cheers Safinn my PSP has been on 3.90-M33 for many months now, I guess it’s about time I upgrade once again.

Do you know if you can access the Playstation store with this? I’ve barley used my PSP all year so I’m not really up to date with what’s happening on it at the moment.

I'v known about hacking your PSP for ages now but I decided to acualy do it today!

Good man, my PSP has been hacked since the start of 2006 :)

I find the emulators and ability to watch videos on the PSP more useful than playing PSP games, they hasn’t been many games released in a long while that interest me.

Wipeout, RidgeRacer and Lemmings are still my fav games on it, 2 of them are launch titles too!

Updata 5.00-m33 v 4 is out now. Easy way to install is go to update on your PSP on the first tab which is settings I think and I think it is the first one.

My PSP's update is at 5.03, do you know if it'd be possible to still hack my PSP? Even if its possible i'd probably need Pandora's battery, right?

Yep that’s correct, If it’s the original or slim PSP it’s possible to hack it with pandora's battery no matter what firmware version you are on.

Its the original, I though I would need a downgrader to do that. So the PSP would consider it an update?

The Pandora battery puts the PSP in service mode, something only Sony is supposed to be able to do, when in service mode you can flash anything you want to the PSP.

You used to have to downgrade to 1.5 to install the custom firmware when using exploits in games such as GTA and Lumines.

Personally I think 3.71m33 is the perfect firmware. Most homebrew apps, emulators, plug-ins & programs work best with it.

I like 5.00m33-2 for two reasons, one of them being most PSX titles that didn't work do now & playstation store is integrated.

And to answer you're question nutter yes, you can. But you could do it from home also with the PSP manager software from SONY and not be forced to upgrade the firmware.

I think you can only downgrade from official fireware 3.00 so you will need pandoras battery.

O.O I tried to do Pandora's battery but I ran into a HUGE PROBLEM!!!! I can't do Pandora's battery on this because its not what it should be on the inside. I opened it up and its just a battery that it gray and I THINK its on the other side of the battery but I can't get to that side.

    My PSP battery is PSP-110.

*Sigh* Doesn't matter anymore, I threw that POS PSP battery away.

I actually got it to work, I didn't know what I was doin' and I did something horribly wrong but I fixed it I removed the prong on the battery and some smoke came up but it worked but it lost its 50% charge and went to 0% and I had to charge it. Oh. My psp battery is screwed so i'll need a new one. I DID hack it though so would I need to pandora a new battery or could I just get a new battery and leave it be? ...well my PSP is now charging again for some reason. I'm trying to use a Snes emulator, it has no sound. So does anyone know a good PSP SNES emulator for Firmware 4.01 M33-2? *Sigh* I'm always running into trouble, my battery won't go past 61% now so I can't do it from my PSP because it needs to have a 72% charge or better, so I won't be able to upgrade my hack on the PSP, so is it possible to do it other ways?

I wish I would have never upgraded from 3.90

Upon exiting any emulator now my PSP freezes and I have to remove the battery to shut the thing down. It worked fine for a while, then it just started doing this. I've formatted my memory stick and even swapped it with other ones (both Sandisk and Sony) and it still happens.

You dont need to take the battrey out, hold the power swith up for about 8 seconds and the PSP should turn off.
I think you can downgrade if you go in to recovery mode and launch the installer for 3.90.

Tried installing the 6th patch for the 5.00 M33 firmware? Ive atatched it if you want to give it ago.

If you have a big memory card (I have an 8gig). I would really advise upgrading to 5.00M33-6. It allows faster memory stick reading.

With the SNES emulator there a still bugs, although it might just be my emulator. It runs games slow like Super Mario RPG, Clay Fighters and some others I can't remember.

I really like the progress that Daedalus, Nintendo 64 emulator. I can't listen to the audio of the games since its slows down the FPS too much. So I use IRshell and put on some music and then start up the emulator. So atleast I hear something when I'm playing.

Also if you want to use POPS, Playstaion emulator, i've seen that it seems to work perfectly on 5.00m33-6.

Oh yeah, I know some people don't want to upgrade because they won't be able to use some of the older homebrew, so this will help.

This would be the 1.5 Kernel Addon, i've found others of this but did nothing at all.

*Instruction on using the 1.5 Kernel Addon* Open the RAR folder, next will be the 1.5kerneladdon folder open it. Then you will get 2 different things one will be 150.PBP and the other will be a PSP folder. Put the 150.PBP in the root of your memory stick (the first thing you'll see when you double click on the memory stick). After that open the PSP folder, then the GAMES5XX. Put THAT 1.5kerneladdon in your GAMES5XX folder.

To use it after you DO ALL OF THIS, just go to your games on the PSP it should be there. *WARNING* If you use this you won't be able to use Location Free Player and Korean Text will no longer be availiable.

After you DO THAT, power off the PSP completely. Hold the R button and turn on the PSP, to go into recovery mode. Then go to Configuration, then go to Game Folder homebrew press X then it'll go from 5.XX Kernel to 1.50 Kernel, then 1.50 Kernel will be enabled. (I will posts some pics if need be.)

Nuh uh, sir. You can hold it an entire minute and it won't go off at all. It just sits there with the screen dimly lit and won't go off until removing the battery entirely. I've been using the latest patch as well.

Something strange after upgrading to the 5.00 firmware. it seems my battery life has increased dramatically, even while using the brightest screen setting. :O

That is rather odd. When ever I hold the power switch it usually turns off. There have been a few odd things to happen though. It froze so I held the switch the green light went off but the screen was still on, that only happened one time though.

I use IRshell 5.00 when using my emulators with the exception of SNES TYL.0.4.2 (Makes odd sounds) and any PS1 game (for some reason it will ALWAYS make my PSP freeze). So it works well with Daedalus64X Beta 2 and GBA emulator (I can't remember the name of it.)
It hasn't seems to have crashed in the emulators after I exit when using it with IRshell.
