Default iPhone and iPod Touch 3.0 Final Firmware Download iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

How to install:

Unzip the file you downloaded then:

1.- Open iTunes (8.2 works best)
2.- Connect your iPhone.
3.- Sync it (it will do the backup automatically).
4.- Press and hold the ctrl key (alt if you're on a mac) and click the Update button.
5.- Select the IPSW file that you just downloaded

Your upgrade should be done in about 10-15 minutes.

Downloads:

iPhone 2G 3.0 Gold Master Final - iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

iPhone 3G 3.0 Gold Master Final - iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

iPod Touch 1G 3.0 Gold Master Final - iPod1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

iPod Touch 2G 3.0 Gold Master Final - iPod2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

Note: You do not need to be a developer to install this, its the final 3.0 software that will be released in a weeks time by Apple.

Update: xzKinGzxBuRnzx has uploaded the new 3.1 firmware for iPhone and iPod Touch. Read more about that here!

Default Trouble

I must be missing something in the upgrade process. When I download the .ipsw file to my Mac, the Mac expands it to a directory with .dmg files and some subdirectories. iTunes won't allow me to select the original .zip file, and if I change the extension to .ipsw I get an error message. What am I missing here? Thanks for any help.

Extract the .ipsw file from inside the zip and use that

Thanks for that. I'll get my sister to update her ipod touch. Normal would cost her £6! Thats what she paid for the previous update.

Same as me, the question is will it cause any issues with iTunes as it was suppose to paid upgrade which isnt on the account?

Couldn't you just create a backup and try it. It if creates problems just restore back. I don't have my iPhone anymore but I never had a problem with upgrading.

You must hold the shift key on a PC not the ctrl key. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Edit: It was half way updating and i got an error. I used iPod Touch 1G 3.0 Gold Master Final - iPod1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
