NOTE: This book is outdated, go to The Jungle Flasher Website and download the JungleFlasher Tutorial.
JungleFlasher can flash all drives from in Windows and is a lot easier than anything described in this book.

Complete tutorial on firmware flashing for all Xbox 360 drive types (including the new BenQ and Hitachi 0079) as well as backing up and burning games.

It would be ok because i would be playing gears 2 now but i have no other 360 and im not doing it with my current one. Also it costs a bit of money do get all the things you need. If i was to do it i would buy one insead of doing it myself.

Depends on your 360, I suggest you read that book many times than ask questions.
