Does it bother you that the Windows 8 consumer preview has no start button / menu?

I ask as this was one of my many major dislikes about Windows 8, it appears i'm not alone.

Stardock are trying to come to the rescue with Start8, an app to bring the start menu back to Windows 8.

I hate the fact they removed the start button, it honestly doesn't benefits in any way. All it does really is make it more difficult to load programs I want to use if I don't have a shortcut on the desktop.

yesterday I installed the Consumer Preview. Been using the Dev Preview. It scared the shit out of me when I saw no power off button. Hovering to the right most corner brings the essential menu (share, search, start etc) and I got relieved. I am okay with it.

That's another annoying thing, having to hover over areas of the screen and click random stuff to find the shutdown / standby button.

I would agree with Dark Scyth, its really no benefit to a desktop user what so ever.

Choice would be nice here, even if Windows defaults to no start menu i see no harm in giving us the option to enable it. Win / Win everyone is happy then.

From what I'm hearing I'm glad it's only a preview and that they implement some much needed changes! I was really glad to get away from Vista and onto Windows 7. Seems I may stick with Win 7 for a while more.

+1 the only new things iv seen is the app store and xbox live. Everything else looks like a sandwich wrapped in clean film. The sandwich is still the same just with a cover over it. lol. Also has anyone else got the email to download start8.
