OK, I've had enough! FF is pissing me off. When I close it down and then reopen it I have to log back in to any sites that I was logged in during the last session, whether it's Gmail, Digiex, or any of the other dozen sites I've told to keep me logged in, the cookies just don't stay. So I've gone in and told FF to keep all history in the preferences but even those setting are forgotten on restarting FF. So I've checked to make sure that the system has full write permissions to the FF folders in Explorer but that didn't even work. Does anyone have any ideas? It works fine on my work PC, but not at home. Note: I'd like to find a resolution to this issue prior to my full rebuild to Win 7 RTM so that I can bring my settings across, otherwise if this issue isn't resolved I'll have to not do a files and settings transfer and reload laudy da everything from scratch.

LOL, that's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that? Oh, now I remember I don't want Google logging everything about me and the sites I visit.
LOL, Up until this issue I was quite happy with FF. I am actually considering your previous idea. It just means re-teaching the fam how to use a browser, but that might be easily overcome if I change the Chrome icon to the FF icon Kids may not be able to tell the difference. But seriously any ideas on how to fix the issue with FF? It's really frustrating. I'm going to play around with Chrome for a while and see what happens. Any good add-ons?
You need to switch your Chrome to the Chrome dev channel, See this link: Early Access Release Channels (Chromium Developer Documentation) After that you can install some add-ons that are on: Google Chrome Addons, Themes, and Plugins As the builds of Chrome that support add-ons are still in the development stage there’s not a lot yet, give it a few months and I’m sure they will be a lot more to choose from. I don’t use Firefox so can’t really help you there, you could just try using MozBackup - Backup tool for Firefox and Thunderbird and just backup your fav websites, then when you re install just download your add-ons again if all else fails.
Maybe you should try to uninstall and then reinstall FF? I use Firefox 3.5.2 on the Windows 7 RC build and it works perfect, no troubles at all.
The easy way to do that is just download and run this app. Chrome Addon: Google Chrome Channel Chooser
SRWare Iron I switched to Chrome per the suggestion, but I was getting a little pissy with all of the ad's, which were all blocked in FF, so I did some searching and found this: SRWare - Hardware-,Software- and Onlinesoloutions It's identical to Chrome in appearance and the core code is almost identical, but it has an ad blocker built in and doesn't log everything you do and report it back to Google.
I read some stuff about Chrome on that website, must admit I didn’t know it did a lot of the small things the SRWare website mentioned. I use Chrome on my netbook, will most likely replace it with Iorn.
Some of that stuff is no different to what Firefox and Internet Explorer do, combined with ad cookies and tracking cookies you get in every browser, its really nothing to worry about.
A few nice little themes for Chrome and Iron. https://tools.google.com/chrome/intl/en/themes/index.html
These themes work with SRWare Iron as well. The ad block feature is text based, but it works a champ. Australian and World News - Main Stories - ninemsn News has a nasty drop down ad along the top for Mercedes in Chrome it's very annoying, but with Iron it's gone.
