I have just been prompted to install Games for Windows Live 3.0 from Windows Update, presumably because I have Gears of War for Windows installed.

So anyway after it installed I loaded it up expecting a lot of new features, sadly nothing new is available from what I can see.

I dont even know the point of the application to be honest, you can sign in view howmany ms points you have and download a few demos... thats it, you would think by version 3 you would be able to see your friends list, and maybe atleast start a voice chat or send a message.

An Xbox Live client on the PC could prove very useful and intresting but sadly I dont think Microsoft have a clue what there doing with it.

A few screenshots atatched, probably nothing you havnt seen before though.

It works fine with Windows 7, well I say works fine it’s never done much for it not to work ;)

I was thinking it must be more like Steam or a nice XBL client for the PC.

I'm pretty sure the older version had a friends list. Well the only time I ever used this program was when playing Fallout 3 and that had a friends list on it even with version 2... Maybe you can only see your friends when playing a game, which is just rubbish!

Yep thats the in game thingy which you have to be in game to use, this is some desktop application which has a lot of potential yet does next to nothing.

Microsoft need to have a look at Steam for some ideas...
