It seems like there's a lot of cool stuff you can do with a jtagged console and I would really like to try it, but I don't really have my finger on the pulse of the scene right now. Are there any new methods of jtagging coming soon, should I wait awhile and see what happens in the scene, or should I just go for it?

Unrelated: Is it still possible to get a free hdd transfer cable from m$? If so, how?

Nope there is no new methods of doing a jtag at the moment, I say go for it and just get a second Xbox 360 if you want live.

If you decide not to jtag at least don't update your exploitable console, sell it to someone who can make use of it.

New things are happening all the time for jtagged consoles, the freestyle dashboard is looking pretty nice now if you ask me:

As the the data migration kit, this worked for me: https://digiex.net/computing-sectio...-free-data-migration-kit-copy-content-pc.html

Very handy bit of kit to have around :)

    Thanks for the reply.

Would you mind linking me to some up-to-date tutorials on jtagging for someone who has no experience? I've installed blue led's in my controller and my console, and I have done 2 different rapid-fire mods (one in which I actually had to build the circuit with components from radio shack and some bread-board), and I have hard and soft modded a couple of original xboxes, so I am definitely capable.

However, It would be nice to know that I'm looking at the best possible tutorial though, because you seem to know what's-what.

This tutorial is a good starting point, however its a bit outdated: XeLLous JTAG Noob Friendlyi

From that tutorial aim to find out what console version you have, if you can exploit it and how to wire your Xbox 360 up to read the nand and run the jtag hack.

Basically for your console to be jtagable it needs the 7371 dashboard or lower and to have been manufactured on or before the 16th June 2009.

For actually flashing FreeBoot (hacked MS dashboard) an automated tool such as this will make your life a lot easier: Jtag Tool - Coolshrimp - Forum Gueux

Ive not had much time to keep up to date with everything 360 related, however them two links should be a good starting point.

Read as many tutorials as you can find, in my opinion there is no perfect tutorial out there that explains everything you could need to know. Take your time and be sure to dump multiple copies of your original nand and ensure there all identical. Without a good backup your 360 is useless if anything goes wrong.
