    Hey all,

Recently i had reinstalled windows. And every other thing i had before i did the reinstall.
Installed all the drivers for the hardware. And then i noticed that the HDD for steam was not in My Computer anymore. When it was there before.

I checked Diskmanagement and it was not there either. So i restarted the PC went into the BIOS and its not there either. Flashed the BIOS to the latest drivers/settings. Did not work either.

Removed the CMOS battery and restarted the PC and the Drive was there again recognized by BIOS and Windows. Put back in the CMOS battery and went about installing the rest. Had a few restarts with windows updates etc etc.

HDD gone again after all windows updates where installed. Then i removed the CMOS battery again did not work. Changed the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 and back. Drive was back again. Went to sleep.

Woke up. Drive was gone again. Reinstalled Windows in a very pissed off mood as u can imagine. And Drive was back entire day no problems until i shut down the PC and restarted it again the next day. And nothing seems to get back my drive, removing CMOS battery or moving the Jumper nothing works.

The drive is perfectly fine. Tested it on other PCs. The motherboard is perfectly fine aswel.

    PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black edition. Put on a new CPU cooler last summer (Cooler master Hyper 212 Plus)
    Mobo: MSI 870a-G54
PSU: Antec EarthWatts EA650 (650 Watts)
Graphics card: Powercolor PCS+ HD5870 Slapped on a custom cooler last summer (Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 5870)
    RAM: Kingston ValueRam 1333Mhz DDR3 (8gigs 4x 2gig) Bought 4 gigs extra last summer
HDD1: Seagate ST3160812 AS 160gig used for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (Works perfectly)
HDD2: Samsung HD204UI 2TB used for Storage. (works perfectly) Bought last summer with the cooling/system upgrade
HDD3: Samsung HD502HJ 500gig used for Steam games. (Does not work anymore after reinstal) Bought 2 years ago along with the rest of the PC

    Update:
Ive just hooked up the none working HDD to the PC and unplugged the other 2 HDDs. And it will not spin up at all. Tried different sata cables and power cables but nothing helps.
Ive hooked it up on the test PC i have and it works and spins up just as it should. So the problem most likely seems to be the BIOS not giving my HDD the power to spin up.

So i have fixed my problem. The drive was in perfect condition as was the rest of my hardware. The software part was the culprit and in this particular case it was the Southbridge software that refused my HD502HJ HDD. I had done a firmware update on the harddrive listed on this website:

Samsung firmware update for P67 and SB850

Fixed the problem. I went from firmware version 1AJ100E4 to 1AJ100E5 and it seemed to do the trick as far as i can tell. For now ill have to watch the drive for couple days to see if it continues working properly.
Thnx for all the help and support that i did not get here (Sarcasm).
