    hi guys,

I am getting my Jtag xbox soon and have some queries if you can kindly help:

    1. If I just have ONLY a USB external dive as storage will it work as good as an XBOX HD?
    2. Will the USB drive be slower or cause problems?
    3. Since the USB drive will not have partition 3 like the XBOX drive, how can I install games, title updates and DLC?

thanks in advance for any help you can provide as always a very helpful forum :)

As long as the device is USB 2.0 it should be fine and no speed problems as the 360 is 2.0. If i'm not mistaken there are programs that are available to allow games to be ran off of a USB drive though i'm not sure about title updates or DLC.

You still need a hard drive in the console to save games, profiles, title updates and avatars to.

I dont believe all that can be saved on a USB drive yet, the drive in the console can be any size you want though.

USB 2.0 only has 60MB/sec bandwidth, so a USB HDD will be significantly slower than the official HDD, which runs on a SATA bus.

You can only format 16GB of USB storage for 360 use, so a lot of a USB HDD will be going to waste. Not sure if the 360 will be able to see both partitions (360 formatted and PC formatted) of a usb drive.

If it will, you could use the remaining huge space for video and music files.

You will be better off getting a high speed USB flash drive. Read something about smartburst or something like that, I don't remember. No seek time like a spinning disk drive.

Try to pick up a 20gb HDD cheap (make sure it hasn't been banned though).
