Let's say four months ago it was working fine (it really was) but recently, like a week ago I noticed it was acting up and the buttons wouldn't react in their natural state. Before: Perfect. Everything worked 100% Now: The On/Off button doesn't work, the Open/Close Disc Tray also restarts the console and opens/closes the tray. And most weird of all, at night it'd boot itself up, until the moment I got upset and unplugged it from the AC, please note I did nothing to it to become what it is now. I should note I'd plug the controller and unplug to pack the controller into a drawer to keep it tidy. Is there some way of doing a hard-reset? A way of holding the buttons and activating the recovery menu? I really hate it how it is today because Xbox, the original, it's one of my favourite gaming systems of all time plus I adore to play with the Controller S. By the way, isn't this forum from UK? If so, why is it "center" and not centre? Thanks.
How did you mod your console? The xbox has no recovery menu as such, however so modchips do have a lot of configuration options. There is nothing to hard reset really, you could delete the configuration of your default startup program e.g. XBMC, however i dont think that would do anything. As for the console turning its self on, thats a new one to me, faulty / sticky button maybe?
My Xbox isn't modded or anything. It's official. I just didn't use it for quite a while and perhaps, does the temperature of a room affect the console's behaviour? It was working 100% back in September 2011 and now it's just silly with this nonsense of the two buttons mix-up. I have no solution, do I? The first time it automatically boot itself up I got surprised again and again got on my nerves, thankfully it didn't explode or burn anything inside. Thanks!
Nope there is no recovery menu for it then, it could just be old age, depending on when your console was manufactured it could be almost 10 years old now.
Could be. But my NES, Sega Mega Drive are all working fine without a single problem, this sort of issue really is weird and boggles me. Damnit, I'll have to buy another original black Xbox, don't want to play Xbox one games on the 360.
Things were built to last back then, the Xbox does pretty well when compared to the 360. The orig Xbox is basically a restricted PC, the hard drive's in them will not last forever either sadly.
