It's coming out on the 6th December, 2011. Old news, everyone probably knows. Anyway... But I've started to wonder if it's really that great, it sort of shows the PS3's XMB Menu-ish type which I don't really like (even though I use it on my PS3, and wish Sony would update it already) plus a bit too much advertisement just at once. The current one also shows advertisement but it's easy to skip, but with this one, it feels like we'll be forced to see it (unless signed off from Xbox LIVE). I was very excited when I saw the announcement of the new dashboard at Microsoft's E3 (if I remember correctly -- I do), but if I don't update I won't get to use Xbox LIVE Marketplace, so leaves me no choice. I may change my opinion once I fully get to try out the new dashboard. When I used to have a PSP, I loved the XMB Menu, but still can't like it on PS3 after all.
The games section of the new Metro dash is annoying, you have to actually press a button to bring up a menu of what category you wish you view (e.g. arcade games, demos) where as in the old dash its right there. Then you have to change to that category. I do think the interface looks a lot nicer but the majority of the space is used for adverts which is annoying, it would be nice if you get to the game section for example you see Arcade, Demos, Full games and so on, all there on the screen. The Xbox Dashboard will never be great as you get 1 option to customise it, and that's to change theme... The current dash most people is on works well with just the "My Xbox" section. Get rid of all the extra crap that appears when you sign on to live and that's very intuitive to navigate, its when you start pressing up / down to get to about 5 extra rows it gets confusing.
Why is it that we pay 60 dollars a year for live and get hit with Adverts? Hell the PS3 doesn't even have as much advertising, barely any at all infact and it's free. The new dash just seems mediocre to me, though the dashboard I'm on now is mediocre. I liked the first dashboard due to customization and the first NXE due to how reactive it was compared to the Kinect dashboard.
i prefer the metro out of all of them and the advertisements there saying on xbox fourums ads should be for silver members not gold but ads are probably reason why xboxlive is successful if it wasnt for ads no one would know when the deals are on ect plus on new dashboard there only small ive yet to see any third party ads like the usual lynx
The current dashboard looks much better than this new one (metro is it the name?) but I may end up liking it after it's installed on my 360 S. 6th December, the day for the new dashboard!
The day's already tomorrow, I sure hope I'll love it, though I'd wish they'd allow the users to keep using this dashboard too.
Its sort of tough luck if you dont like it really lol, if you want to use live or play new games you have no choice. It could be better, but i do think its a nice improvement over what we have at the moment. Its mainly how the games on the console are organised that annoys me, I don't think its as easy to get to them as before, maybe it's just me? Apart from that no massive complaints.
The apps aren't finished. Dailymotion app is constantly lagging, crashing, freezing. There are several unfixed dashboard bugs. I dislike the marketplace, everything. Everything is a mess and is all over the place. I've only browsed it 4 times since the update was pushed out. I think it's ugly. I like the background, I hate the green tiles, they don't go well with grey. They won't give us an option to change them which totally sucks.
the reason behind the dailymotion is because it searchs evey letter you press they need to incorporate an interval at when to search like when zune does but most of these apps are third party so will not be up to scratch when released
Even when i go to the next set of tiles, it's laggy. Everything is hanging and it needs a lot of work ;/ The US have more apps than what we do. If the dashboard launches tomorrow, I can't see Youtube being available. Edit: On Tuesday, December 6th the latest update to the Xbox 360 dashboard will be available to consoles around the world. In addition to new and updated features, if you have Kinect you’ll be able to say it and Xbox will find it with Bing Search. From all those awesome features, I am so anxious about YouTube on Xbox 360!! I tend to watch YouTube videos on PS3 but the video quality isn't even HD, kinda like 360p or 480p, or even 260p. Reason is, PS3's browser is way way outdated and Sony doesn't give a crap about adding features to the PS3, god damn it! --" Microsoft to the rescue! : D
When I updated my 360 I had to accept new terms and conditions and then I had to sign into Live myself and ask it not to ask for my Live password everytime I tried to login to XBL. Perhaps that's why terry? I don't mind the layout, still easy to find the things I want etc. I can live with it
Gotta Live with it... although i hate it. I preferred the last dashboard (in fact, i had only just gotten used to the last db)
i'll live with it, i much prefer the old dash, and it would be a whole lot better if you could run the jTag freestyle dash on my live xbox, but that'll never happen! The apps are not even finsihed on the UK version yet so it is pretty much useless and it was not worth the big hype they gave it!
