All you need to do is download the Wii U Homebrew Starter Pack v3 and unzip this to your Wii U's SD card:

You will have some homebrew apps along with the Homebrew App Store, which allows you to download new homebrew apps and update your existing apps.

    Hi,

I want to download Homebrew and BotW trainer to add a few items to my Breath of the Wild but I have a couple of questions:

    1. When I am done, how do I delete the trainer and HBC?
    2. When they have been deleted, can I access eShop and other stuff normally?

If you just follow this guide nothing is permanent, so simply delete the files off the SD card and power the Wii U off. When you power it on again it will be like nothing was ever done to the Wii U.

If your on the latest firmware you can access the Eshop as normal.

    It's me again...
I heard that 5.5.2 came out, checked my Wii U and immediately pulled it out. I need to update BotW to use botwtrainer but I do not want to update the wii u. Is there any way to do this?

Does that mean I'll lose all of my progress?

If your just updating the game no, it would just be like updating it on the eshop.

I tried to do this following your tutorial. The webpage says errorcode 112-1006 could not display page and the console does not even detect the sd card. What now?

What firmware version is your Wii U on?

Does the internet on your Wii U actually work or are you using an old DNS server to block updates which no longer works.

The SD Card must be FAT32 formatted, however how do you know it's not working if you can't use the browser exploit to launch homebrew?

I mean when I go to settings and check copy move delete there is no sd card.
I put in the same DNS as your tutorial said, and I am on 5.5.1

And no, the internet does not work. But when the SD becomes detected, how will I update BotW?

    Thanks in advance :)

I used 035.164.240.189 but do I have to also do something to the IP?

Depending on when you followed the tutorial the DNS server you used might not be working:
    • 035.164.240.189 (DNS-U)
    • 168.235.092.108 (hosted in LA)
    • 081.004.127.020 (hosted in Netherlands)
Hopefully one of these should get you internet access along with blocking the updates, you need internet to work on the browser with updates blocked. So try the DNS servers until you find one which works.

Do not mess with any other IP settings, they should be left on auto.

The SD card doesn't show at all in the Wii U's settings, that's purely for USB storage devices that have been formatted to work with the Wii U, such as USB memory sticks or USB hard drives.

The Homebrew Launcher will however load homebrew and allow you to install games / updates from the SD card to either the Wii U's internal memory or a USB hard drive formatted for use on the Wii U.

Thank you so much! But there is ANOTHER question. I checked those but can I remove homebrew while still having the update?

Yes, when you power the Wii U off it will forget you have launched the Homebrew Channel and only the update will remain.

If you want a permanent Homebrew Channel icon on your home screen then follow this tutorial: Wii U Permanent Homebrew Channel / Launcher Install

Nothing I have advised you on touches your save game data at all.

Unless YOU have done anything to it then the save file is sat there on your console where it has been.
