    Retro Handheld Being Re-released

As we are all aware, the days of Sega hardware production are a thing of the past, but maybe not as much as we thought. A company by the name of Innex are re-releasing the old Sega Genesis handheld, the Nomad.

Innex has renamed the Nomad as the Retro Gen. The Retro Gen will play Genesis/Mega Drive carts. It will also play licensed games that can be downloaded and saved on an SD card by using a special development cart.

The Retro Gen features a built-in battery that can being charged via USB. It also features a six-button controller layout that is similar to the second generation controller of the Genesis.

The Retro Gen will be released in the US on July 25 for $50. Does not seem like too bad of a buy.

It looks okay I guess. The Screen looks very small and the D-pad looks a bit annoying. Although I have a port version of Pico Drive on my PSP, so I can play Sega Games and (some) Sega CD games. I don't and wouldn't pay money for a game that I bought over 10 years ago, I bought it for the full retail price when it came out I'm not going to pay 5 - 10$ for something that I shouldn't have to pay for again.

I’ve seen quite a few handheld versions of older consoles, or devices on sale over the years, you could buy something similar from game at one point: Sega Mega Drive Handheld - Cool Stuff - GAME.co.uk drive

There’s also also a non handheld version with quite a few games built in, I would have to agree with Dark Scyth the PSP is a much better option, or a modded Xbox if you want to play them on the big TV.

Im sure old Sega fans will enjoy it either way!

This handheld looks great, nothing beats the original system, and this handheld is going to come close. Sega's hardware production days aren't over by the way, they still sell their consoles and games in Brazil, you can buy new mega drives and stuff over there.

Yep looks to be a couple released each year!

Sonic Adventure 2 came to the GameCube ;) otherwise I would have probably picked up a cheap Dreamcast a few years ago.

Hope they didn't spend too much money making that game since not a lot of people play that console anymore. I always wanted a Dreamcast but never got one.

Me too. I'm almost glad I never got one because they didn't really last long.

I loved the Sonic Dreamcast games but like Danny said, most have been ported, so no need for a Dreamcast really.

yeah maybe for you but I really liked alot of the Dreamcast games but alot were ported

Power Stone 1 and 2 -port Power Stone Collection(PSP)
Marvel Vs Capcom 2 - port Marvel Vs. Capcom 2(Xbox,PS2, Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network)
Street Fighter 3: Third Strike - port Street Fighter Anniversary Collection(Xbox, PS2)
    Ikaruga -port Ikaruga (GC)
Skies of Arcadia- port Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC)
    Rez -port Rez(PS2)
    Shenmue 2 - port Shenmue 2 (Xbox)

while i was doing this I found a WAY larger list than this
Dreamcast Games That Have Ports On Other Systems - racketboy.com
    it's well over 50

If I had ever owned a Dreamcast I’m sure I would have a big list of games for it too!

Ive got Ikaruga on the GameCube, its fun just stupidly hard!
Also Rez is ported to the 360, its on the Xbox Live Arcade as Rez HD, I quite enjoyed that too!

I have Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic DX Directors Cut for my Gamecube. I believe Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was the second game I got for my Gamecube, the first being SSBM.

Oh yeah, forgot that Skies of Arcadia was ported from the Dreamcast. I must say Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite RPGs of all time.

Wow, wrote this post in response to a post way back on page 1, how silly. Ignore the tone.

You say that. But in the time it lived there were some awesome games for it, ESPECIALLY if you're a Shmups guys, Ikaruga, Border Down, the list goes on. Plus it's the only platform you can play Samba De Amigo on right? So if you want some extreme maraca action, the dreamcast is the only place to go for it. These days Dreamcasts can be gotten for £20 with all of the cables, a pad and a memory card, there's plenty of awesome homebrew out there for them and they can be made to support imports (;)) quite easily.

Jet Set Radio! I forgot about that game too. I played Jet Set Radio Future on Xbox, I loved that game. I didn't know that you could get Dreamcasts that cheap, I might have to pick one up.

I agree, I may just get myself a Dreamcast now. I really want to find a copy of Jet Set Radio Future now too.
