Considering that Serebii.net Forums thread was posted in 2006, I can believe they were telling the truth. Which would make a 10 ANIV Celebi ROM even MORE valuable.

As an aside note, I got a chuckle at this bit in the OP of that thread:

"Now I was really suprised at the lines there... Not their length in general though...
The long lines were: merchandise (like hats and crap), the top twenty, and to get your picture taken with pokemon.

The short lines were: celebi, everything else."

That's how it was at the stop in Chicago. Which is why I only got those three Celebi and nothing else.

when we are able to get these? and how much should we pay for it?

So Purin owns already the Negaiboshi Distro...but he don't have permission to share

The 10ANNIV variants and the UK Aurora Ticket are the most doable according Deoxys, but I think the Aurora Ticket as more demand so maybe that´s the next one to get depending on how much money we can get.

    @King Impoleon
I can get the 10ANNIV language variants as soon as I know we have enough financial support to obtain them. If I see enough interest, I'll let my contact who has them know that I'm ready to set a final price. My worry is I won't have the support. So many people were asked to help with Aura Mew, yet only 9 of us total contributed anything. That's why it took over 8 months to pay for, and we almost gave up on a couple occasions that it was looking impossible. And that was a high demand rom, these aren't. If we could at least get a bunch of small contributions, it'll add up and work much better in the long run. All the Aura Mew contributors were $100+ iirc, but if we could also get small $25 contribs here and there, it would all add up. If I can't get enough support for these, it's not worth the stress and trouble I went through trying to get Aura Mew.

This applies for the UK Aurora Ticket too, if the contact I think has it is willing to sell. As I mentioned before, it hasn't been mentioned when discussing the topic of future deals, so I'm not sure if we can get it yet. Even though it would support Emerald(unlike our US Aurora), I don't think this rom is worth the stress of Aura Mew either if I can't get the support.

As for the Euro Eon Ticket, as I said I have no idea who has it, so without any leads this isn't in the scope of possibility any time soon.

As for Negaiboshi Jirachi, like you said Purin is the only one we know to have it(and likely many more roms), but as we know he kept a promise with his contact( s ) to never share his roms. I don't think he'd be willing anyway, based on his stance on public roms and fear of the alleged fingerprint tracing. (please no one annoy Purin with messages about the roms, he won't share/sell)

    Edit:
There's also that Gen 1 YOSHIRA/YOSHIRB Mew savefile that I mentioned we can go after. That'd be cheaper, but I still need some support. Is there any interest in that?

On the previous topic of images of the devices, I found Festa Metang pics in my files I forgot I had.

Note the unique black background instead of white. Of course this is trivial, but still interesting. The most I can say at the moment is that there are other roms that have a black UI as well.

  7. So you found the ''owner'' of the cartridge?

I've always known the owner, I just have yet to contact them and see if I can make a deal or not. I think it's worth going after soon considering its life is hanging on the fringe of a two decade old battery and would be much cheaper than any rom at the moment.

    To be fair
They'd be stupid to not have backed up the save file themselves already, if they had something like this and cared even just a bit about its value.

You'd be surprised. At least, when I heard from the person who attempted before me, it wasn't backed up at the time. This isn't likely any of the serious collectors we've been dealing with, rather it's just someone who worked the event in 1999 and was allowed to keep the system afterwards. Only they separated the cart from the GBP some years later, which benefits us since they won't need to break the seal to dump the save.

Dammit, we're NEVER getting that ROM. I get promising his contact( s ), but his unwarranted paranoia over non-existent fingerprint tracing for ROMs that Nintendo stopped caring about YEARS ago is just gonna make preserving these ROMs even HARDER (if not impossible).

So yeah, our next goal should be that Gen 1 Mew save. Now only does it seem to be the easiest to get, but we need to get moving on it because of the impending death of the battery.

I don't think it's about fingerprinting back to Nintendo.

It's sounding more like, Purin got the roms privately off a contact, who would have fingerprinted them so that they could know if Purin ever leaked them.

If they just owned the cart directly then there wouldn't be a reason to care (Nintendo wouldn't have information about who privately owns the carts anyway.)

I can at least respect keeping his word with his contact, regardless if all he'd need to solve their worries is to randomize the bytes that he claims are a unique fingerprint. If you don't have a different unique copy of the same rom to compare and locate it, it's still doable. Its a random 12 consecutive bytes(unused and don't affect the rom function) which stand out from its surroundings. I've located them in several roms, it just takes time visually scanning the entire rom hex knowing what to look for. Though I just can't respect the fingerprint paranoia when it's more than likely disproven, yet he doesn't really seem open towards the facts put forth publicly. The whole ordeal even still has my main contact highly anxious about everything.

    @UnknownRespected
Possible I suppose, but when the first two roms first went public, he was specifically worried about these roms being found and checked by Nintendo, and them tracing back to the employee who originally leaked them(one a friend of his). Naturally, uniquely tagging and associating every single cart to a certain employee makes no since itself, nor would it matter 10 years later if true, but this is what he honestly believes. Even though it's been explained what the identifier actually is, as well as a unique identifier for every single rom also being disproven. At that time in early 2016, I had located the "fingerprints"/identifiers, randomized them and surrounding trash code, because at the time we didn't have any facts other than what Purin was saying. It's still done with the roms obtained after the first two, just so there isn't any paranoia about our public roms among Purin, my contacts, and any others who are still worried about this stuff.

But anyway, I don't want to stray off on that topic anymore, nor us to appear talking down on Purin. He's a still a good guy and can be helpful.

    -----

As for that Gen 1 Mew save, hopefully we can get to that this month or next. I don't want to risk having the owner waiting on me, so when I do contact them, I want to be able to pay the service charge fairly quick. This service charge will be a price we'll pay that makes it worth the person's time and trouble to dump the save. As I know, the person who tried before me didn't seem to offer enough to warrant their interest. However they were also trying to buy the cart, while I'm not, so that may make a difference. I'll also have to likely pay all shipping costs for them to borrow my cart dumper.

I'll say it here again, I need to make sure I have enough support, so those legitimately interested in contributing can contact me via private message. Once I see I likely have enough backing, I'll contact the owner and hopefully set a deal. Once I have the service charge set, I'll then do the math and ask those who were willing to help for their contributions. It may be a one time chance.

  14. Im not sure if this is allowed over there at reddit, but did you tried to contact or made a thread there as well? You know to reach more people to support you.

I think Reddit has strict rules on advertising, most websites do. YoshiMoshi had ran into this problem, and even got banned from SerebiiForums when he was trying to help me get contributors for Aura Mew.

Serebii Forums is probably the worst place to go to try and get help for what basically amounts to getting a rom lol.

Yeah same. This is the last I'll say about this.

I might be able to toss in some money this month. Aside from some Pokemon stuff from Japan, there's not a lot I'm planning on getting this month. There is Crystal on 3DS but that'll just be $10 plus tax. I MIGHT grab that Poke Ball N2DS XL but I'm not sure if I will.

I've been following this thread, just not had much chance to reply recently.

How much are you thinking for the Gen 1 Mew distribution cart save? your doing them a favour too as i'm really surprised the cart batteries still works. So i wouldn't say it needs to be anything crazy.

I think I can get it fairly cheap, considering I'm not actually trying to buy the cart. That's all I can really say about price at the moment. Though, the person who attempted before me also offered to buy it for $150 or more, but the owner didn't bite. This time they'll get to keep their cart, and I'm providing the hardware to dump it. It'll take a few minutes effort on their part, plus going to the post office to return my dumper. I guess it all comes down to how generous and/or enthusiastic the person will be.

I just wonder how the heck that battery isn't dead yet lol. Almost 20 years xD
And what we are doing to that guy is almost a favor, I think it shouldn't be hard for him to accept the deal.
