Default [GBA] Elite Map (v3) English – Pokemon Ruby Map Editor

Elite Map will let you modify the maps in Pokémon Ruby, I believe they are other tools included to edit various other aspects of the game such as what Pokémon appear where, the text and so on. I’ve not really used this in too much depth, found it and just had a play about with it.

It took me a while to work out how to get started once loading the rom, here’s how to do it.

    1] Load the rom

    2] Click go home

3] Edit away, use this menu to jump to other places on the map.

Download EliteMap and some other Rom editing tools

Download missing DLL and OCX Files (you only need these if you get errors loading elite map, extract them in to the folder where elite map is installed)

Download Visual Boy Advance, a GBA emulator what will let you play your modded rom.

Download More Tools - A collection of other tools for editing Pokemon Ruby

All the other tools but the map maker. The starter changer was the one I was really hoping for. It looks to be in either Dutch or German. Anyway I can't read the buttons.

I don’t know a one word of German either, however I was able to translate the entire program in about 5 mins by just looking up the words on Google Translate and using a bit of common sense, Its possible to basically guess what each part of the program is supposed to do.

From playing about with it, it appears to have a language selection menu that’s disabled for some reason, I’ve enabled it but the program fails to compile. I only know the basics of programming with Visual basic so I really have no idea why it doesn’t compile.

For anyone who’s reading this who can program, the Visual Basic 6 source code is included with the program however I guess something breaks when its converted to VB.NET 2008.

Was it a RARed file? If it is and you haven't unRARed it that would be your problem.

You cannot edit Ruby on your GBA, roms are read only memory dumps, hence you can read the data but not write changes back to the GBA.

If you have a flash cart for your GBA you can write your modified from to the flash cart and play it like that depending on where you live a few places should still sell flash carts for the GBA.

You should just be able to put it in the folder with Elite Map, then right click and run program as administrator.

Try right clicking on the exe and running it with Administrator rights, that should help in Vista / Windows 7.

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display and set it to 100%

It looks like the problem is been caused by you increasing the size of things.

You need to download a rom of Pokemon ruby from somewhere, the map editor does not come with the rom. Unfortunately i cant link to this, however you should find the rom with a quick Google search.
