Post How to mod GTAIV for PS3

    You need these files
    GTAIV MOD TOOLS.rar (attached below)

    Common.rpf (make a backup)
    Located in \GAMEZ\Game_ID\PS3_GAME\USRDIR

    Now open up OpenIV.exe
    open Common.rpf

You should now see three folders. click on the data folder and scroll all the way down to weaponinfo.xml.

    right click and extract.

    Now open IV Needle.exe
    and click on weapon editor.

Now click on load and select weaponinfo.xml
click on the scroll down bar for weapon type and select DEAGLE.
we are now going to change the Fire type and the Damage Type.

    change fire type to PROJECTILE
and change Damage type to EXPLOSIVE

    Now select the Projectile tab
Change Type to Create: to ROCKET

you can save or make different changes.
Go back to OpenIV.exe and open common.rpf, and go back to weaponinfo.xml and right click and replace.

Go back to where you see the three folders and this time select the folder TEXT.
Delete all the languages EXCEPT your own. I will delete all the ones except American.gxt. since my game is in American. apparently not English.
(we delete the unneeded languages because the file cannot be bigger than the original or the game will not work.)

Click on File then click Rebuild and hit yes

Once it is done rebuilding you may now put the common.rpf file back into the game.
Now just start the game and checkout your new mods.

    Heres a video of it

Kudos to anti087 over at PS3HAX for releasing it
    Hope you have fun modding

Yes, You can its VERY easy!

First, In the "GTAIV Weapon Editor" Program.
Find the weapon you would like to make rapid fire.. For example the Desert Eagle
    And Load it up.
In the "Time Between Shots" part, change 333 to 111 or 100 it REALLY Doesn't matter as long as you don't make it TOO HIGH or TOO LOW it WILL crash your game!
Or the game itself won't let you play with that gun, Signifying that, that gun doesn't work and needs to be fixed!
Make sure to change the Clip Size from 9 to like 9999 so you don't need to reload.

  6. Thanks from:

    Default Confused

Okay so i'm a bit confused. Where do I back-up the common.rpf? Where do I get the eboot.bin and etc etc.... as seen on the first picture on this post.
MAKE A BACK UP of your ps3 game "GTA IV"??? if you could simply show this tutorial of backing up the game i'd appreciate it!! ALSO after editing/modding the -"COMMON.RPF"- how do you put it back into the game? some of this might be self-explanitory but i'm just struggling a little to figure out how to mod gta iv, atleast (offline) just for fun.

NOTICE:**I already edit a common.rpf file because I downloaded a clean one from somewhere else, I didn't get the common.rpf file myself. I'm just ready to put the file back into the game. what are things I need in order to do this. other (my ps3 is in 3.73 fw) latest firmware

I think half the people who tried doing this tutorial, FAILED. the reasoning is because you didn't show us how you u got to the 2nd step, You start the tutorial on step one not 2

You need a Jailbroken PS3 to follow this tutorial, as you are on 3.73 that's not possible at the moment.

The tutorial would make a lot more sense to you if you had Jailbroken a PS3, as you would have learned how to copy files to and from the PS3.
    Phone: Galaxy Nexus - 16gb - bootloader unlocked & rooted - running Cyanogenmod 11 (Android 4.4)

If u r in the 3.73 firmware then you play from the original disc. You need a copy of the game running for internal HD to overwrite the file in question (commom.rpf)

For anyone with issues with the location of the common.rpf file, both insanenutter and I have addressed it

If you still need help locating it please refer to this thread.

    Default Pigeons?

Is it possible to use the save game file to locate the remaining pigeons? I don't want to cheat and have it say I got them, I just want to know where the eff they are so I can shoot the last two! I went through guides and triple checked every location so obviously I keep missing them!

If such thing existed (for PC, Xbox 360 & PS3) it would be marvellous as it would save time and get over with the damn Flying Rats.

Also, if there were something similar but for the Stunt Jumps I'd appreciate it.

For the mods to work, you have to be on 3.55.

HDMI cable is for a video feed, has absolutely doing nothing with transferring data and you can't mod GTAIV unless you're on 3.55 CFW.
