Digiex News: New Download Server Online Some of you eagle eyed members may have noticed yesterday the FTP went offline for a few hours with an announcement on the top of the page about work taking places on it. I'm now proud to announce after weeks of setting up we have two new servers at Digiex! First of all we bought a new Higher spec server which has been classed as the Web Server. It has over double the ram and processor speed than the previous box. On it we host our Web Server (which the site is hosted on) as well as our database server which holds all the content from the forums. We then formatted the previous box we used and turned it into our "Download Box" which we have housed all the FTP Downloads on Digiex (Downloads with ftp:// in the URL). This means the Download Server has an entire physical server to itself. This means during busy times or when we have recently leaked something popular like we have in the past with the Resident Evil 5 Demo, Windows 7 Betas and NXE we should be able to remain online. Before when the Download Server filled up, as it was on the same physical server as the Web Server and database server it caused them all to become too busy fighting for resources and lock up, resulting in downtime as well as database curruption. So now we have a super fast web server that can handle over triple the amount of connections as before, as well as a seperate download server which when busy wont effect any other part of Digiex. This is all thanks to Digiex member KingzBurnz who has come aboard as a full staff member and donated much needed funds to help Digiex expand which we really needed to, as we were overstretched on our old hardware. So welcome back to Digiex, the same site as before, just now a lot faster and less prone to going down! Thanks for sticking with us during all this mess during the transition.
ty to burnz and other contributers! this forum is expanding really fast, soon it will be one the most popular forums!
In time I'm sure it will be a big forum. Very good job to everyone helping out sorting the place out!
Glad to hear all went well with the upgrades. Thanks to the Staff for their hard work and dedication. You guys are the best!
