    Default [Wii] The Wii Homebrew Channel

    The Homebrew Channel

    The Homebrew Channel is a channel for launching Wii homebrew applications without the need to run the Twilight Hack first. It will list apps stored and organised on an SD card in a nice little GUI, which you can very easily customise with descriptions and shiny little .png icons all by yourself if you want. You can also launch homebrew apps via TCP (with a correctly configured PC) or USB Gecko. Both of those built in options make it extremely convenient for testing out new code, as well as a general purpose homebrew launcher. You've seen the video, now try it yourself!

    How to Install using the Twilight Hack

    1. On your Wii, copy your Zelda savegames onto an SD card. Back these up somewhere with your PC, you'll need to replace the ones on the Wii in a moment.
    2. Download and setup the Twilight Hack on an SD card (make sure the card is formatted right first, as per the instructions).
    3. Download the Homebrew Channel and stick it in the root of the SD card too. You will probably want to download the sample apps too.
    4. On your Wii, delete your Zelda savegame, and then copy the loader savegame from the SD card across.
    5. Play Zelda, load the savegame, talk to the guy in front of you.
    6. READ THE DISCLAIMER.
    7. Wait as the self-updating Homebrew Channel is installed.
    8. Play with some homebrew.
    9. Delete the loader savegame using the Wii system menu, restore your zelda savegames from your PC.

    Nintendo could possibly ban you for having this installed in the future. Always check on WiiBrew.org before running a system update, or running a new game with an auto-updater.

    How to Install using a Modchip

    1. Download the ISO
    2. Burn it using ImgBurn (Free)
    3. Put it in your Wii and let it install.
    4. Enjoy

    I have a couple of questions. If you use the Zelda method of enabling homebrew do you have to enable it every time? If you do the Zelda homebrew and then this will it stay. Also will this allow the ability of playing back-up copies of Gamecube games? My games are still in pretty good condition and i'd like to keep them in their case for a long time. Also i've heard of the bannerbomb method which does the same thing except for the 4.0V like taraff has...except I believe it is free.

    I don't own a Wii (yet) would it come with the 4.0 update?

    I guess the bannerbomb method works without Twilight Princess. All you need it to download the free software needed and a formatted 16 or 32 FAT SD memory card. (which you can format it to 16 or 32 so just need a SD card.)

    You only have to use Zelda once then you have the homebrew channel every time you turn the Wii on, you might want to check the videos below out as there a lot more up to date.
    I dont have a Wii myself, I just find this sort of stuff interesting and read up on it.

    Thise videos on youtube show you how to softmod a 4.0 Wii which I believe is the latest version.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDzK_ZQd_3A"]YouTube - Wii Softmod 4.0 Tutorial Part 1[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EWdv-_nX0I"]YouTube - Wii Softmod 4.0 Tutorial Part 2[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6garPjNcQpc"]YouTube - Wii Softmod 4.0 Tutorial Part 3 - Installing Prelauncher[/ame]

    If you double click the videos the guy has a download of the files you need and explains a lot in his description.

    Once you have modded the Wii it will boot homebrew, games from a USB hard drive and imports / backups.

    The method in the video above was patched by Nintendo last week! The New Wii Homebrew Hack allows you to use homebrew WITHOUT Zelda and is Wii Update 4.0 compatible!

    For some reason I'm finding that hard to believe. I don't doubt it 100% but finding very hard to believe. If the method was free I wouldn't be doubting it but since you have to pay for it I don't think so.

    Which is exactly what I am thinking. Did you see the so called testimonials? They were a joke.
