Being an avid football fan, I always look forward to the world cup. The greatest teams on Earth, battling it out to be top dog in some of the best Stadiums in the world with one aim, to lift that priceless and illustrious world cup. However it would seem this year that it's all gone a bit tits up, those bloody Vuvuzela's, England disappointing yet again, and now? The French have gone on strike, what a surprise.
I have to be honest here, I do not, in any way, support England. Having lived for 19 years now, they have disappointed me time and time again, and I'm sick of it. Sick of the heart ache, sick of the gloating from other countries, and sick of the fact that people can't see we're really not that good. Yes we may have great players, your Lampard's, Gerrard's and Rooney's, but the fact of the matter is, we cannot play as a team, something which to me has been highlighted in this world cup by the fact the so called "lesser teams" are outperforming the "big" teams, and you want to know why? Because they're not a bunch of jumped up prima donna's who thinks the sun shines out of their arse. Case in point - New Zealand. A team of part time players, bank workers and the odd pro. Their results? 1-1 vs Slovakia, and 1-1 vs Italy (the current world champions I might add). Sure they're not going to win the world cup, but to them, those two results are like a win, heck, they're like winning 2 world cups. Nobody gave them a chance, and as we stand, they have just as good a chance of qualifying as Italy and England do.
My point about the prima donna's is also highlighted by the French. I mean sure, their manager is a nutter, but because they can't get what they want i.e. a win, they've thrown the toys out of the pram and gone on strike, very mature I'm sure you'll agree.
We can only hope this world cup perks up a bit, because at the moment, it's been poor. Very poor. As for England? Not a hope in hell. If they win,
Bit of an essay this time around, but stick with it!
The world of design is a cruel cruel place. Where something you have created and think is sheer brilliance can be shot down in a matter of a few words form a pompous, arty farty git who thinks the sun shines out of his arse. It's a place where wrong is right, cool is shite, and quirkiness is top dog.
Design has been one of my hobbies for a few years. I studied a web design course at college where we designed our own graphics for our own websites, and I have to admit, it was a lot of fun. However I've never thought I was good enough. Nothing I ever seemed to do, in my mind, compared to that of my peers, however my teacher seemed to think my work was great, however I always put this down to her being kind. My problem was always that I had the ideas in my head, I was just never able to recreate them on the screen quite as I saw them in my mind. I think this has been a problem of mine in life. Always the "ideas" man, but never quite able to either get those ideas down on paper, or able to get them across to someone else, this perhaps is why I never did as well in exams as I was "supposed" to. This has left me with no confidence in my ability, and maybe why I chose not to carry on with web design at university, rather opting for something I do think I'm good at, which is Marketing. It kind of annoys me, because being quite literate with most of the design software from Adobe (i.e. Photoshop, Fireworks & Dreamweaver) I could probably made something of it. It got me thinking about life in general, what would happen if we made different decisions? Does everything happen for a reason? And are there parallel universes where we made those different decisions?
In short, I do think everything happens for a reason. I know that in my short time so far on this Earth there are various things that have happened to me which seemed terrible at the time, but now that

I've always flirted with the world of online gaming, however the only real game I've ever played for great length online is Halo 3. Let me get this straight, I'm talking about console gaming here, PC Gaming has never been my thing, and I don't think ever will be. However I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the quality of online gaming, but also the people playing online.
My main gripe recently has come with FIFA 10. Whilst a great deep game off line, with manager mode and Be A Pro modes to keep you busy, I wanted to try it online just to see what it was like and see if I could take on people from around the world. Well what a mistake that was.
First game I played, 2 - 1 up with 2 minutes to go, pother player quits. Second game, same again, only with awful lag this time. Third game, same story. By this time I'd gotten so frustrated I'd thrown the pad across the room and turned off the Xbox. Not only did the experts at EA decide not to punish players who quit early, they couldn't seem to sort lag out, something which ruins the game of football. And whilst I don't like losing, I'll never quit a game just because I'm loosing, that's just petty.
Another game I've recently been playing is Modern Warfare 2. I just played that online today, and after finally being able to connect to games, people just camp out and generally be noobs. This, I think, is the most frustrating thing about online gaming. Obviously I know that we'll never be able to stop unsporting behaviour online, as people will always do anything to win.
So in conclusion, I think I'll stick to my campaigns and off line gaming, as well as Halo 3. Online gaming? No thanks.
I know it's a line from Family Guy, but I thought it was appropriate. I'm currently studying at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, and living in Huddersfield. I thought this was a seinsible choice, as It was a good course, a good city and close enough to home to be able to get back quickly and easily. However, what I didn't account for is the shocking train service that runs between Huddersfield and Sheffield. Today I caught the 10.08 train, and did not arrive in Sheffield until 12.00. This, is simply not acceptable, especially when you consider the distance and the time it takes to get there by car. I can tell you that the distance is precisely 30 miles, and it takes around 45 minutes by car.
Now to many who travel from all ends of the country, this may seem like a stupid thing to complain about, I know some people who have to travel in excess of 4 hours on the train to get home. However, they know that it will take this long, and they travel many hundreds of miles. Where as, the train I get stops at every stop bar 1 (around 15 or so stops) and usually takes an hour and a half, on a cramped, rickety, uncomfortable train. And for the pleasure of this, I pay £10.40 for a return ticket. Whats even worse is that to Manchester to Sheffield, it costs £17.50 return, but at least that is on a comfortable train with only one stop inbetween, I didn't mind that journey at all. It is further at around 38 miles, and only took 55 minutes.
Today on my journey home the train didn't even go to Sheffield! I think the driver was too busy playing with his testicles for about 30 minutes in the middle of the journey, and so we were so late it had to terminate at Meadowhall (the stop before) and I then had to wait another 15 minutes for another train into Sheffield, simply ridiculous.
We pay millions in tax to the government each year through transport, whether it be us doing 32 mph in a 30 zone, or simply the wankerous people who go around
