Hey guys I was thinking of getting Far Cry 2 has anybody here played the game and is it any good Btw i reaaaly like fpses thanks
i played it and the graphics is great specailly the fire effects the map is huge 50km and the gameplay is solid the game has some flaws thou like the map is so huge that traveling can be annoying as it can sometimes takes 30 mins to get to point a to point b and the enemies take like half a clip before they die but overall is a great game it has map editor to i recommend watching this vidoe review
If you enjoyed the first Far Cry you will enjoy the second, I’ve played it at a friend’s and quite enjoyed it. I didn’t buy it because I don’t have time to complete the games I own now let alone a game as big as Far Cry 2.
It's a decent game as all have said just has some minor problems such as killing people takes too long and the map is too big lol
The game is pretty amazing. The graphics are great, and the story is good too. The only complaint I have is that you cannot fast travel anywhere. You have to huff it all over hell and creation. This is why I have not completed the game yet. The huffing it all over tends to detract from the overall enjoyment but not to the point where the game becomes boring.
I loved the first, thought FC2 sucked pretty bad overall. I thought FC2 was one of the most boring shooters I've played in a very long time. The graphics were pretty awesome for the most part. The areas are boring and devoid of much wildlife at all. The enemies are repetitive and take too much ammo to kill. FC2 and Tomb Raider were the most disappointing games I played last year.
havent played FC2, but can say that the original Far Cry had amazing graphics for its time, but the gameplay (IMO) was very repetitive and got boring after a couple missions. nothing new or special in that department. they made it too easy to find enemies, as you can hide in the bushes and have your scope find the enemies for you, without even being able to see them (it highlights them with a target) so it was basically: find a place they cant see you, use your binoculars or scope to see every enemy within range and pick them off before you ever get in any real danger. its almost like cheating. the game offered no challenges, was just an easy slaughter. i never finished it, because i got bored with it. theres gotta be a demo out there, if youre considering buying this game. if youre going to pirate it, then theres really no point in this discussion. dammit, i just searched, and apparently there was no demo released for far cry 2. maybe you should look at the youtube footage of it and see if its something you might enjoy. you probably need higher end graphics capability to get anything spectacular out of the graphics department. thats something to consider if you dont have a hgih end gaming machine.
Hey, i'm not sure if its worth buying for £40 though because it takes ages to get anywhere no real things that can be enjoyed apart from the missions and to be honest they are to realistic and repetitive but apart from that Graphics= Amazing, Flame physics- Amazing, Wildlife= less than boring, Overall game = 7
In what way? I heard people got tired of respawning enemies and the long treks you had to do (no fast track option ala Fallout 3 or Oblivion). Haven't finished Far Cry 1 yet so god knows if I'll buy this game let alone play it.
I just traded this one in to get Resident Evil 5. The game itself wasn't bad it's just the long treks you had to make to get to mission objectives. Had there been a fast travel option, this game would have been much better.
The main problem I've got with FC2 is the fact that stealth is non-existant; the enemies know exactly where you are, no matter what you do. You can be sat in a bush, at the dead of night, after buying that special-camo-thingy (which suposedly makes you really hard to spot when you stand still in long grass), and have a good 200ft between you and your target; as soon as you fire however, this goes completely out of the window. the NPC will seemingly dodge your M95 round in a matrix-esque fashion and proceed to alert every bugger in a 4 mile radius to come raining down upon your poor, unsuspecting head. Also, the NPC's (after spotting you with their telephoto retinal scanners) seem to gain a buff where all of their shots seem to fire in a perfectly straight line... even if they are armed with a twelve-guage; which is bloody frustrating when you're trying to gain some sort of distance advantage. Surely your M95 sniper-rifle (which in RL has an effective range of 1800mt's according to wikipedia!) is atleast slightly more accurate than a shotgun? You could argue that my distrust of bolt-action rifles in that game is due to me simply 'sucking' and just missing, by no fault other than my own; but the NPC's can dodge bullets... IT'S TRUE! ... sorry, I've just noticed that this isn't answering the question in hand: s'alright, aslong as you prefer the PKM over the M95!
I was going to try it out but all I heard from my friend was him b*tching about the game that it took too long to get from one side to the other and something about needing to get more pills in the game so he had to go back another 30 minutes to get them and then go back to where ever he had to go.
I think the graphics are some of the best iv ever seen. Too bad I did not enjoy the game as much as others.
That is one of the fundermental flaws in that game; you have Milaria, you see, and every hour (I think) you have to pop Milaria Pills to stop your screen from shaking/turning green/making a really annoying noise. Although you can go for two or three 'Milaria Attacks', but the second one is about 5 minutes after the first, then the next is 1 (couldn't be bothered putting up with it after that). And. the traveling isn't that bad; you just have to look out for the genocidal clans trying to tear you, not each other, a new cake hole. Every mile or so, you'll encounter an 'Outpost', each 'Outpost' is populated by 7-10 members of either of the two warring groups (not that it makes any difference to you, both want you dead). This is frequency of fire fights is really engaging in the first hour or so (plenty of action to be had!), but when you're 10 hours in... it's just annoying. Oh and they'll chase you till either you or them are dead; you can't outrun these guys... basically cos all of the vehicles have the exact same acceleration and top speed, but also because they don't seem to have a maximum 'roaming' range, they'll just follow you.
