I've finally figured out how to download and burn movies! ;v)
Now here's my problem. Everybody seems to like to upload them in widescreen! I got big beautiful 27 inch LCD TV and call me crazy but I love for the picture to fill ALL of it! Could somebody please tell me if it's possible to convert from widescreen to full and if so what software do I need to download?

I presume your TV is widescreen?

Whatever you’re using to play your movies on the TV should have a zoom option, just zoom in a bit and to get rid of the black bars.

I must admit this really annoys me too, the picture HAS to fill the full screen where possible when I’m watching something.

*BUZZ* Wrong! My TV is a normal 27 inch LCD TV. I HATE fullscreen! When I watch a movie or anything else I want ALL of my wonderful little crystals filled. Not just the middle ones.

You can but I think the only way it would work is by converting the whole video which could reduce quality and conversions can take some time and weigh heavily on the CPU. Though most (newer) TV's and DVD players have some screen adjusting features that should adjust it to the size of your TV.

It's possible to convert from 16:9 to 4:3 but you're either going to scale it so it looks horrible stretched or sacrifice some of the picture. If you're going to crop it, your TV should have an option for this anyway. If you're authoring this stuff to DVD format with Nero, just go into the options and change the aspect ratio there, it'll do it for you. Otherwise, you can remaster using virtualdub.

I'm not sure what I like better to be honest. I like the fact that I don't have the black bars when in fullscreen. I like widescreen however, because the picture is clear and I can see everthing that is going on; not missing anything on the sides of the screens. I think all DVDs should have an option to view in widescreen or fullscreen, and not sell each type as seperate DVDs.

Oh don’t get me wrong i would choose widescreen over the old 4:3 format any day, what I mean is it really annoys me how most movies are filmed in such a wide aspect ratio that even on a widescreen tv you have massive black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. On huge TV’s it doesn’t matter as much but as the TV in my room is only a 17” LCD I usually just zoom in a bit. I can live with missing a bit of scenery ;)

I take it you mean nero express and not the burning aspect? Nero express is used to convert stuff to DVD player format. If you are press More>> Then Video Options, go to the DVD-Video tab and change the aspect ratio to 4:3.

    Thanx, Titchy! ;v)

Well it looks like I'm going to be stuck with wide screen. For some silly reason my Nero disc won't install. Any chance of somebody uploading their's please?

You're not undertanding. My disc is having problems being read from so an update won't do me any good. I need the whole thing.

I don't think its only for updates. Depending if you have a key for Nero 7, 8, or 9. If you had 7 and the key for 7 download 7 and use the key.etc

Although I’ve switched to using Nero Lite now, I used to always download the latest update from the Nero website if I needed to install and never had any problems, this might have changed I don’t know.

If it still works it saves you finding a dodgy place to download Nero doesn’t it.

Ohhhh! Well usually when I see update it makes me think it's just a patch. You know, like when we update Windows? We don't download the ENTIRE program, it's just a patch! ;v)

You goofed on those links! One I'm an American so I spend dollars, not Euros! And two, I'm handicapped and can't have a credit card anyway! When I said could somebody share their's I meant upload a copy of their own.

You won't believe this! I fixed my disc! ;v)
What I did was I made an ISO of it and then burned it! ;v) Now it runs just like always! ;v)

I'm burning it now and I noticed that Nero runs a little preview window in the upper right hand corner of the burning window itself. I'm not saying I hate that or anything, I'm just not liking what I'm seeing in it. It's still looking like widwscreen even though I changed it like you told me to! Now is this a case of looks can be deceiving or is it going to be fullscreen like I'm wanting?
