So I've been playing a lot of Crackdown after not playing it for almost 2 years and loved it, then recently me and some friends got togeather and had a GTAIV lan. To be honest after that GTA IV felt slow, the graphics poor with rubbish motion blur and in general the gameplay feels so slow and boring in comparassion to good old Crackdown.

To me, crackdown feels like how we want GTAIV to be, it has all the fun stuff pushed to the extreme like jumping between buildings, doing crazy stunts in cars. It just lacks Boats/Air (which will hopefully be added in Crackdown 2). If Crackdown had more than 2 player multiplayer support I still think to this day it would be the ultimate Xbox Live game for people who like the GTA style games.

So for those who have played both, what do you prefer and why?

crackdown is much faster paced and you can do a lot more things with it. Its awsome how you can jump from rooftop to rooftop.

I prefer Crackdown. I never really got into GTAIV for some reason. GTA IV just seems to move at a sluggish pace through the whole game. While in Crackdown you can get to any desination by basically just hopping over buildings.

GTA 4 is too realistic, it took all the fun out the game for me... the motion blur ruins the game too. The multiplayer could is implemented pretty badly too, although if i went in to that we would be here all night.

Agreed, add some of the game modes from GTA like race to it and allow a decent number of players in the same game and I really couldn’t think of a game I would enjoy playing more on Live!

Im sure Crackdown 2 is going to deliver this and a whole lot more :)

I would say hands down, Crackdown wins out. I love how fast the game plays. GTA IV was still an amazing game in its own right, but Crackdown just seemed more fun, especially with the whole co-op campaign. I have been playing Prototype lately and it offers (for me at least) as much fun as Crackdown. It's very fast paced, full of action, and has so many cool powers to play with. I really hope Crackdown 2 delivers twice as much as its predecessor. Hope the devs don't rush the game.

The way you can really compare GTAIV with Crackdown is that they are both TPS's and they are both in an 'open world' format.

These comparrisons can also be conveyed over to an argument on GTAIV and the rest of the GTA series. IV is much more gittier, I don't like using this word when explaining games, but I guess they were looking to make the game more 'realistic'. I think that..

    I don't really know

It's a really tricky opinion to express, it's all a matter of 'preference', some people prefer the 'tricks in cars' and 'jumping from building to building', but I don't think it would work with the gameplay of GTAIV. I personally prefer GTAIV over all of the rest of the series, and especially over Crackdown.

As people have already said GTAIV is too realistic. I think they have done a really good job on the game its just not as fun as the others which was a let down.

I played the crackdown demo a while ago and I remember it being quite fun but obviously unrealistic.

I sometimes enjoy a little but of free roam on GTA but not frequently.

I never really would see the need for them with how high you could jump...Although early in the game that would be so handy. You've got me playing Crackdown again.:P

I picked my copy up again the other day. Crackdown is good, mindless fun.

Impressive ascent agent, it's rare for anyone to reach elevations of this magnitude.

(I ruined the streak) Does he really say that? That would mean there are multiple super bad-ass agents running around even though I only thought there was one. Are the other agents just sitting back while you kill the gang members?

I think that those other guys are just "Models" you can pick yo use. Similar to "Assault On Dark Athena" how you can hop into one of those "Drones" and control it until it dies. :) Hope that clears things up!
