What is your favorite game? Mine so far would be Gears of War for the 360. It will be Gears of War 2 soon!
It would be hard to really pick just one game, if I had to pick and game and only choose 1 it would be Gears of War. I think I have enjoyed playing that game more than any other game that’s been released in a long time. Here is a list of games I would class on favourites on each of the consoles I own. Xbox 360: Gears of War Halo 3 Heavy Weapon PSP: Wipe Out Ridge Racer Nintendo DS: Geometry Wars Galaxies Gamecube: Mario Kart Smash Brothers Melee Xbox: Halo 2
I know not everything that follows in this post is to do with my favourite games but if we just list favourites the thread will die off quickly because no real discussion is taking place. I hope what I've included below will get the ball rolling. My all time favourite game is Grim Fandango and I don't think anything will ever beat that for me. Everything from the storyline down to the quirky characters is brilliant and I think that it would probably be the only game I'd ever give a perfect score to if I was to write a review for it. Put together an old computer with Windows 98 and play it, you won't regret it for a second! Max Payne 1 & 2 where both fantastic games as well and a film is being made and should be released later this year! With the current track record for games made into films being what it is I'm not as optimistic as I'd like to be but I'm still looking forward to it. Newer games that I have enjoyed playing the most would be Gears of War (can't wait for the sequel either) and Condemned mostly and I still haven’t got around to Condemned 2: Bloodshot yet, though I have played the demo on the Xbox 360 and it looks quite promising. Also looking forward to Dead Space & Too Human, although I still haven’t made my mind up about the control layout for Too Human (download the demo and you'll see what I mean) it seems quite interesting. A quick split from favourite games to list a few that I felt where let downs and/or not deserving of the praise/hype that they get. For me these would have to be Assassin Creed, GTA 4 and Halo (any of them). I know a lot of people would disagree (especially with Halo) but it's just a generic and bland game where the only redeeming qualities lie in some of the multiplayer aspects. Yes, Assassins Creed and GTA 4 have awesome graphics but they where both overly repetitive (especially Assassins Creed), which literally consisted of doing the exact same thing throughout the entire game and made use of a single button to do all of the fighting. As much as I liked playing the GTA games (2D and 3D ones), everything in it has been done to death now and adding a few new things here and there doesn't make it worth buying at full price or interesting enough to actually want to keep playing it.
Hmmmm quite a tough question to answer really, with so many new games coming out and so many games we've all probably missed out on I don't think these lists will stay the same for some. With the amount of games I've yet to play I know my opinion will change. Anyway to answer the question I was thinking which game have I played alot of, never got bored with and always had fun with (not got frustrated with the repetitiveness or the challenges layed before me). The answer would have to be Sonic 2 for the MegaDrive (Geneis). The reason for this being that I no longer have a Mega Drive and yet still manage to complete the game on average of 3 or 4 times per year. Sonic 1 isn't my favourite because you can't spindash, the levels feel more slow, and Sonic 3 doesn't make it because I didn't like some of the levels (mainly Carnival Night Zone). Sonic & Knuckles was good but to me it felt like an expansion to Sonic 3 (both games put together do come close to Sonic 2 IMO though). With Sonic 2 Sonic team got everything right. All the levels were fun to play, every piece of music was either catchy or a joy to listen to and the 1st inclusion of Super Sonic was great. The first time I managed to get all the emeralds, I couldn't wait to go Super Sonic. Heck I even got the cheat codes so I could be Super Sonic on the last level . I'll post my other favourites for other systems later on.
I don't know if there can be a definitive "favourite game" as games are so varied and it would be hard to choose. In terms of single player campaign modes, my favourite is by far and away Halo: Combat Evolved. This is the only campaign that I can play over and over again and not get bored. It is original in the plot, and thoroughly enjoyable. In terms of multiplayer, I think I would have to choose Mario Kart: Double Dash. I don't think there is any game I have enjoyed playing with friends more than this, and it makes for some epic nights. In terms of the games I have played most it would have to be the Pro Evolution Soccer series. Whilst I know many on this forum are not big fans of sports games, football is my passion, and this is the closest you can get to the real thing. There is nothing quite like starting a master league with the default players, and slowly building your squad up to include the best superstars in the world. I think the reason that I haven't included any current gen games like Gears of War (although that was a close one) is because I think that current gen games lack the originality of their predecessors. I don't go back and play campaign modes over and over again as I did with Halo 1, as the storyline just doesn't grip me enough. I don't know what other peoples views are on this, but it's something that is really starting to annoy me with the gaming industry, maybe it's just me, but nothing new interests me anymore! Thsi may well be because I know I will never enjoy a campaign mode as much as I enjoyed Halo 1, or maybe its just me being pessimistic, you choose
I agree with you there, I’ve been a PC gamer since we first got a PC in August 1998, I remember back then every game used to amaze me because I had never played anything like it before, then when a new version came out that just blew me away again. 10 years on most of the time I’m just seeing the same thing released again and again with better graphics and new maps/levels. For example I used to love the Tony Hawks game’s, I played the 2nd and 3rd games in the series to death and could rack up score’s in the millions with ease... then when the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th game and so on came out I just got bored as it’s the same thing again but slightly different moves and levels. Companies need to stop milking games and releasing a new version every year, a good example is Age of Empires... in over 10 years there has been 3 major versions of the game with a few expansion packs here and there, I have loved playing each new version as it was a bigger improvement to the last one to justify it been a new game. Gears to me was new and original as I had never really played any 3rd person shooters and I loved how if your connected to live and playing a friend can drop in at any time, talking control of one of the characters and help you out. No game has impressed me as much as Gears in a long time.
Yeah. Half-Life really is great. It amazed me that after all those Half-Life games, you still don't know anything about what's going on. I do think they should release Episode 3 sometime soon though. Valve makes great games, but they don't seem to understand what episodic gaming means. They are releasing those episodes in a time span as if it's a full game.
Wow, hard question. I think mine would have to be Chromehounds or FlyFF. Ive put in about 1200 hours on Chromehounds and about 3000+ hours on FlyFF lol.
Xbox 360: Halo 3 PS3: Metal gear 4 GTA 4 DBZ Gamecube: Smash Brothers Melee WII: Super smash bros brawl PS2: Pro evolution soccer 2008
Favorite games? Eve-online, Css, Badcompany, Stalker and ofc Tf2 Best games!? PORTAL, AVP2 AND MONKEY ISLAND!
For PC: Starcraft Warcraft 3 is also great but only for its custom maps. Diablo was also fun to play for some time. For Wii: I really liked Zelda: Twilight Princess. (not the best zelda but a good one.) SSBB and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption were also fun. For Xbox 360: Assassins Creed and Kameo: Power of Elements were great. For DS: Pokemon Pearl. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. (was a bit short but fun.)
