The fifth-generation Pokémon game has been announced report Joystiq. At least, the titles for the next generation have been announced. Pokémon Black and White are the next pair of Pokémon games, to be released this fall on DS in Japan. Nintendo's going for relatively simple colors after things like "HeartGold" and "Pearl." And ... that's pretty much all we know. Of course, given the way the series works, we can all kind of guess exactly how this will play. Or maybe not: a note on the Pokemon home page promises that "every aspect will be reborn innovatively," according to our translation.

The first new creature from this generation has already been revealed as a sort of teaser: Zoroark, the Monster Fox Pokémon. The teaser site indicates that we'll know more April 15.

he first new Pokémon being added to the next game has been revealed. The silhouette belongs to Zoroark, a new Dark-type Pokémon described as a "Monster Fox Pokémon."

It evolves from the smaller and cuter, but evil, Zoroa. Scans from the latest issue of Corocoro Comic magazine show the critters in non-silhouetted form for the first time, eliciting many sighs of relief as it Zoroark is revealed not to be a werehog.

Pretty soon they are going to run out of colors for these games ;). I like the idea of revamping the gameplay, but I hope they don't add a ton of new pokemon. By the end of the next few years, we'll be close to 1,000 pokemon I'm sure. Last I checked, there were already close to 500. The games are still quite fun tho ;).

All of my childish memories.... returning.... :D
its gonna be insane to capture more than 500 different pokemon so i hope the change in gameplay they were talking about is gonna keep players playing.

my only complaint is why they didnt wait for the DS's successor ("3DS" is the temp name) to be released and mae the game for the new console

Not going to play this. I loved Red, Blue, and Yellow back in the days, and if I want to relive Pokemon, I better just replay a part of the original instead of buying and playing the whole rainbow of spin-off sequels..

Nothing will beat the originals I agree, well i say originals i mean the first two generations on the gameboy / gameboy color.

I loved Red back when i was little, then when Gold was released that was a massive improvement and is still my favorite game in the series to date.

The DS games are pretty nice, Diamond / Pearl introduced internet trading which is always something i thought would be pretty nice, I really got in to breeding and trading online. The Gold / Silver remakes are just like my fav original, but massively improved so ive really enjoyed playing that too!

Not too sure what to make of the newly announced games, Nintendo dont really milk the series for all its worth like say EA do with games so it could be quite good, I dont think it will be rushed anyway. 500+ Pokemon will be insane to get, I only ever managed to get all of them on the original which was 151.

The first images from Pokémon Black and White have surfaced on the internet thanks to some Coro Coro scans. The new images show the new overworld, playable characters, battle scene and Pokémon Center. Based on these images, the fifth generation games will also boast incredible 3D graphics and a lot more in-game detail, like the shadows shown in the battle scene between Zorua and Zoroark.

Looking good. No doubt it'll take a while to come to the UK (Maybe not long after the US, hopefully going by HG & SS standards :) ). Not that I'm bothered much right now as I'm still making my way through Soul Silver.

Not really, I mean Super Mario DS came out when the original DS did. That was in full 3D even though it's almost the same game as Mario 64 when that came out on the N64. I think it's always been said that the DS has the same capabilities as the N64.

I would agree with that. When looking at many of the newer DS games, they look almost exactly like they would if they were being played on the N64. Granted the N64 game may look a little smoother, there is really no difference that I can see.
