Q: Minecraft 1.8 has been released, what does this mean for the server?

A: Rest assured, the server is still up (although quiet at the moment) and your items / buildings are safe. Once an update is released, it can take around a week or two for the Server software (bukkit and mods) to have a stable update. Until this happens, the server will be stuck on version 1.7.

This isnt joinable with an updated client at 1.8, though rest assured Digiex has its own Launcher which can help you run 1.7 in the mean time without damaging your client. You can download the Version Switcher Tool and either click Join Digiex Server at the top of the launcher window, or download 1.7 in the JAR Downloader and Launch it. This is only temporary until the server is updated.

Q: Will the server have new 1.8 features soon?

A: It will have most of them, however the new River and other Terrian Generation (like small random NPC villages and Mineshafts) will not exist as our current maps were generated before the 1.8 Adventure Update.

Other features such as Enderman, Mushrooms, Health, XP, New Items etc will all be fully functional.

Q: Will Creative mode be available?

A: I'm affraid not, our server was originally designed to be a Survival Server, and at the moment Creative doesn't work in its current setup, though stay tuned at this space, as we have plans for Creative in the future!

Q: How will I know when the server is updated to 1.8?

If your using an older client like 1.7 to join our server at the moment, you will one day be greeted by an error message saying your client is out of date, at this point we will be on 1.8 and you should use the latest version

Q: If I want to play with 1.8 Features while I wait for the update, what are my options?

A: Two things, you can either play Single Player for a while, or you can ask to beta test in our 1.8 Demo Server. Our Demo Server is separate from the main server (different maps) and is used as a testing grounds for Mods and other functions. If you would like access, Just PM any of the Admins on this Forum and ask for the details and to be whitelisted on it. Please note, its only a Demo Server, and switches between Creative and Survival randomly. Also buildings and items are not safe or guaranteed, during tests the world may be purged a good few times. If your looking for longterm building, your better off in the Main server.

Q: I'm seeing threads posted about fresh starts and Migration Plans, in a quick summary, what does this mean for the server and our worlds?

A: Honestly, there are discussions on going about the Migration Plan for 1.9 / Minecraft Final (nonbeta!). This may include fresh new maps, but the plans are currently in the discussion and voting stages. Your welcome to take part in those discussions to make your views heard. However these will not take affect until the 1.9 / Final Version is released, which is most likely at the end of November, so you still have over 2 months of Guaranteed Server. (And to be honest, in all Minecraft servers there is always the risk of a refresh)

If such plans get approved, there will be options to migrate a building over or so or some of the existing maps may be moved over so you won't need to do a thing. However in the mean time, with that being such a long time away were urging players to continue business as normal, its a long time away - And to be honest, I don't think theres many minecraft servers out there who aren't considering at some point, a map refresh will need to happen. Unlike most of them however, we are being honest about it and allowing users to let us know what they would like to happen, ie keep some maps, or replace them all etc

If you really are worried about a map refresh getting approval, you could begin to whined down your operations on the main server, perhaps by using all those items you collected and stored in chests to make a massive epic building, or begin to use up all those coins you collected. However either way, your guranteed a lot of fun in our Main Server for a long time yet.

Thanks for your time, feel free to post any questions you may have below. :)

The only thing that may be offered is a Demo World, which would be temporary, as per the Migration Plan. Which hasnt entered that stage yet.
