Hi Guys!:) I know I havnt posted in a while but I've been extremely busy with work and school.

Anyway I need a new (and decent) phone, my budget is a maximum of £240 but I can stretch it if it is a really amazing deal (absolute maximum £260). I have seen a few phones I like the look of including the...

    • Nexus S
    • Galaxy S Advance
    • Galaxy Ace 2
    • HTC 8S
    • Lumia 800/900
    • Xperia Sola
    • Xperia U

I am not fussed about the age but some things I need are...

    • ICS/Jelly Bean (if Android)
    • Auto focus camera with flash
    • 3.7" or higher screen size
    • 480x800 or higher display resolution
    • Cases avalible (not slip cases)(TPU)
    • Looks good
    • Dual core
    • MHL would be nice but not needed
    • Unlocked

Now I know this seems a tough critera but please help me because I really (desperately need a new phone)

    Cheers!!:)

I'm going to be annoying an exceed your absolute maximum of £260 by £14
The Galaxy Nexus is 339,00 Euro on Amazon Germany: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B007A2K9AM/ - that translates to £273.78. It can also be purchased on Amazon UK for £280, I actually got mine from Amazon.de as it was a lot cheaper compared to Amazon UK at the time

The Galaxy Nexus exceeds everything in all the areas you have stated, you will love the 4.65" 1280x720 screen the phone has too! The camera takes great pictures and the 1080p video recording is great.

More specs on Wikipedia: Galaxy Nexus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm really pushing the Galaxy Nexus as its Google's flagship phone, so you will get all the latest Android updates. Its also supported by all the major custom roms if you ever wish to root and install an alternate rom.

Ive had my Galaxy Nexus for 8 months now, even today its a pretty high end phone at a very good price considering what you get for your money, I personally think it's well worth saving a little more for the Nexus.

I would love to get the Galaxy Nexus but it is out of budget and I need a phone ASAP. I did buy a LG L7 about 6 weeks ago and Its been in repair for a month now. They have given me a refund so now I need to get a phone for work as soon as I can. I have been using a Nokia for the whole time (which is very old) so unfortunately its not possible, shame though because it is an immensely good phone.

Truthfully £240 is the maximum I would spend and £260 would be if things get desperate so the Galaxy Nexus seems out of reach:( I have just realised if I buy from eBay if it goes wrong I have no shop/website to just go to (I have had very bad past experiences with phones and buying from eBay) Any other ideas other than the Galaxy Nexus??? (Cheers for the help)

If you want Android what about the HTC One V? i quite like HTC phones personally and the Sense UI HTC used on them.
Or if you want Windows Phone 8 the HTC 8S looks pretty good from what i can see.

The Nexus S would be a good Android choice, its getting on a bit now however still gets the latest Android updates. I never liked the phone personally, it has no notification LED and i wasn't keen on the style of it.

    Thanks for the help Nutter!:)

The Lumia 800 and 900 are very cheap and I know they wont get WP8 but would you say it would be a good idea to buy one?

I had a Lumia 800 until i got my new iPhone 5 and they were a great phone to use. Cheap but had all the features you need. It has most popular Apps but it is the last platform to get any of the new ones like Angry Birds Space. Nokia do support the phone for a good few years online other makers who abandon phones after 6 months.

Yeah but with Windows Phone 8 just around the corner do you think Windows Phone 7.5/7.8 will become slowly obsolete?

What about HTC 8S? It has WP8 and microSD slot. Sure it does not have Nokia exclusive apps, but the price should be right for you. I think the 8S will be in stores early November if not next week.
