"Deal with it" - Adam Orth
Rumors of what Microsoft’s next-generation console will look, sound and play like have been swirling for months now, but the possible feature that’s elicited the most discussion has been its always-online nature. The gaming community has been clearly upset over the yet-to-be-seen future of the Xbox, and Microsoft Studios’ Creative Director Adam Orth has heard just about enough of it all.

The recent hubbub from Kotaku about how players will need an internet connection just to start up a game sparked outrage. Discussion on whether or not moving to this style of connectivity would be viable found its way to Twitter, which led to Orth voicing his own opinions. A member of NeoGaf found the best ones.

I still dont think it will be an always on console, considering the market share gained with the 360 that would be a massive step backwards.
Look at SimCity, thats one game getting so much abuse for it, imagine if that happened with the Xbox.

Plus a lot of people are not even capable of hooking a 360 up to the internet, or have no idea what to even do if it doesn't connect when the network cable is plugged in. It really would be a disaster.

I personally don't really care what's his opinion about a rumour, I'll just wait for the official announcements of the next Xbox.

To be honest, Xbox 360 without an internet connection it just feels incomplete and I use the internet services on 360 a lot, such as Internet Explorer to check on stuff that tends to matter to me, or just use it for YouTube because the YouTube App doesn't show all videos.

I agree that the 360 is better for having online connectivity. But making it something that's mandatory and having it not work without one would be stupid beyond belief. If an online connection is always required for the next Xbox MS would lose customers. Even if that number is very small a loss of a sale is still a loss! Hopefully we'll get some concrete details at the end of this month or at E3 :)

Wii U got hacked but the pirated also got screwed because the console lacks in having a good amount of games and it's only slightly better than an Xbox 360 or PS3.

I once wanted to hack my PS3 but then realised I prefer to have all my consoles with the original software, plus they're primarily used for gaming and whatever bonuses they have it's only extras. Well, Apps and Social in Xbox 360 does have a fair amount of use (not more than games, though).

If i can get my hands on a hacked WiiU or Jailbroken PS3, then i will sell my stock PS3.
I'm also selling my stock 360 right now, because i have a RGH 360 right now.
I also have a routed Samsung Galaxy Apollo Phone.

I don't like it when company's tell me what to do or not with a product. Its my product now, I bought it.

    Update :

I hope that the 720 is getting hacked within the first week, because it has been confirmed that the Xbox 720 always needs to be online.
Without the online connection a game will shut down within 3 minutes.

See the video from IGN about this :

Nothing is confirmed, the console hasn't even been announced yet. For all we know it could well be the Devkits that have to be connected to Partnernet 24/7, so people cant take them and sell them on. Considering how easy it is to get your hands on a 360 devkit, and how many XBLA games were leaked 6+ month ahead of release because of this i imagine Microsoft are keen to lock Devkits down so they cant be used outside game studios.

Despite the rumours ill be shocked if the next Xbox really is online only.

The Wii-U is not really hacked in the sense its only the old Wii mode that has been hacked. You cant run native Wii-U homebrew or games from what ive read. Just like with the PS Vita its only PSP mode that has been hacked on that, you cant run native Vita homebrew or pirated Vita games with the hack.
