OK.. I've got to be doing something wrong here... it's not like this is rocket science ;(

I've got a Star Wars edition XBOX 360 that the 320GB drive died on (clicking noise... yay). I happened to have several WD drives around the house (WD3200BEKT - Sep. 2013, WD2500BEKT - Nov. 2010, WD1600BEVT - Oct. 2010). I've tried all of them and can't get them to recognize in the XBOX.

Running Hddhackr I can flash the firmware fine but they won't recognize in the xbox. So.. I figured I need to create the partitions, and on all of them when I run the option in hddhackr to create the partitions, it says it was successful.. but just hangs at that point without dropping back to a command prompt or anything. Just to be sure, I connect it another system and open Xplorer360 or Party Buffalo Drive Explorer and both programs see the 0/2/3 partitions. At that point, I try it in the XBOX again.. no luck, can't find any storage.

OK.. so I'm thinking that maybe there was something on the disks already so I fired up Data Lifeguard and zeroed out the disks to try again. Went through the whole process.. and stil no luck getting it to see the drive in the XBOX. I've even tried the process on two different systems (one HP Elitedesk 8200 and an HP 8440P laptop) thinking maybe it was something with the SATA controller. I've got one more system I can try.. an old Dell Optiplex 760.

Am I missing something? I made sure that the BIOS SATA mode was set for IDE, made sure to use the correct HDDSS.BIN file for the respective drives (320GB, 250GB, 120GB for the 160GB drive). Running hddhackr I select the F option to load the firmware, which says it is successful and after shutting down, then starting backup the drives show up with different device IDs in Hddhackr (Seagate for the 320GB, Hitachi for the 250GB.. don't remember the one for the 160GB). At this point I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here...

Nevermind.. looks like the issue was a bad connection and the drives not seating properly in the console. Took them out and seated one without the case to make sure it was making a connection and it shows up!

    Hello,
I have been following this guide to hack a 500gb harddrive to replace the 120 that is currently in my system.
I purchased a 500GB harddrive with a model number from the list. WD5000LPVX

    So far:

I created a bootable USB with HDDHACKR 1.40 and HDDSS500.BIN (renamed to HDDSS.BIN) on it.
(NOTE: The Bootable USB tool would only allow me to format the USB drive to FAT32, not FAT as the instructions state.)

Rebooted the computer with the new harddrive attached and booted from the USB.
    Selected my new drive.
Flashed it with the HDDSS.BIN file and backed up the old firmware to UNDO.BIN
Success. So far, everything's gone smoothly (except for the FAT32 vs FAT). :D

For the next part, I have the original XPlorer360 and the Xplorer360-500 (for 500gb drives)
Connected my old 120GB harddrive to the computer and started up XPlorer360 in Administrative mode. I then backed up Partition 2 on the computer. I had trouble getting the files off with XPlorer (kept redownloading the same files over and over), so I did some web searches and found PartyBuffalo and was able to finish dumping all of the files. A bit of a hassle but still pretty smooth. All the files are backed up.
(I'd recommend editing the original tutorial to mention PartyBuffalo).

Now, I re-connected the 500GB drive to put the files on to.
XPlorer kept giving me a "Can't find FATX" error and PartyBuffalo doesn't see anything.

I tried starting over and reflashing the drive but it told me it was ready to go for an XBox 360 and I didn't need to do anything.

To test it, I put it into my XBox 360 and it started up fine. Went into the system and it said the harddrive was unformatted.
I formatted it. Everything looked like it was working normally (as if it was a fresh system). I could create an Avatar, install games, etc. If I didn't want my old info/saves back, I would be done at this point with a working 500gb harddrive.

Went and hooked the drive back up to the computer.

Now, XPlorer360 doesn't give me the FATX error, but it simply freezes.
PartyBuffalo also still does not see the drive.

I'm pretty much almost done, but that's where I'm stuck. I can't get any file browsers on my PC to see the 500gb drive so I can put my files back on to it. The XBox 360 sees it, I was able to format it. I had the screen that said I had 460 usable GB of space on my drive. Etc. I just can't open it up on the PC.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? I'd appreciate it.

Not sure what the deal was, but I got it to work.
I moved everything over to a different computer with Windows 7 (instead of 8.1 that I was originally working on).

    PartyBuffalo saw both drives.
I copied the CACHE folder to my PC from the 120GB and then copied it back over to the 500GB using the Import Known Folder option.
I didn't need any of the other folders.

All my avatars, installed games, and saves are on my new drive. Good to go! Works great:

Note: I did not concern myself with the XBox 1 emulator, since I've never owned an original XBox. I have no idea if it copied over with just grabbing the CACHE folder.

I flashed WD1600BEVT with this tutorial by using 120gb security sector. It worked a moment but then xbox started to say "can't download -some game-" and in storage xbox says the game is corrupted or incomplete. Now xbox doesn't work at all with hard drive on it's place and there comes a system error message (E68). So what could I do to get it work?

    Wd5000lpvx-75v0tt0

I have a WD5000LPVX-75V0TT0. The flash states it is successful but the serial number does not change. Hex workshop shows that the security sector does show the hddss.bin has been flashed. But hddhackr shows afterwards that the serial number has not been changed. Does anyone have experience with this or know where WD has the serial number at? I have tried different size hddss.bin files but all have the same result and the xbox does not recognize the hdd.

    hello all

I have two xbox 360 slim.
    1. xbox 360 slim 250gb modded (I don't know what mod it have since I didn't mod this, I get this one already modded from a guy who doesn't even know what a mod is)
    2. xbox 360 slim 4gb not modded

I wanted to put the 250gb hdd from the modded to the not modded one... so I took the disk (it seems to be the original microsoft ones... model 1451) and put on the not modded one.
I powered it up but it doesn't recognize the disk so it doesn't ask me to format.
If i put the disk back to the modded one it is recognized (it says that it's empty) and I have the chance to format it too; i did it and I have no errors but if I put it on the not modded 360 it still doesn't recognize it.
I tried to do make an usb bootable pen drive with ms dos and hddhackr but on my laptop when i launch hddhackr it hangs :(
I tried on my old eeepc; where the hddhackr starts but does not list the microsoft drive (attached to the eeepc using a sata->usb connector found on an external usb drive)

what can I do to use that 250GB hdd on my not modded xbox? thanks!!!

Is the modded console able to connect to xbox live? It might be rgh hacked and thats why the hdd wont work on the other console.
Hddhackr doesn't work with sata to usb connectors either.

The WD5000LPVX-00V0TT0 does NOT work in my xbox 360 Slim. It appears like it flashes perfectly in hddhackr 1.4 but is not recognized by the xbox. There is obviously conflicting information going around about this drive working. I tried using HDDhackr on multiple computers with the drive and couldn’t get it to recognize in the 360 after. Luckily I had a 500 gb BEVT model in another computer that I was able to do a little switcharoo so I didn’t need to return the LPVX model.

So yeah… I made an account just to post that the LPVX does NOT work for me. BEVT worked just fine. Try at your own risk.

Well I decided to use a spare WD2500BEVS-22UST0 HDD as an Xbox 360 Drive. Flashed the drive, created all the Partitions. Shows up correct in Fatxplorer and Party Buffalo. When I place the HDD into my Slim it is not recognised. Funny thing is though when I place it into a PHAT Case and connect it with a Transfer Cable it shows up in the Slim. I know there is nothign wrong with the connectors in the Slim as I have a spare 20GB HDD that is recognised in the Slim.

New updates can be released quite often for games, especially if the game is quite new.

For example Minecraft has currently had 27 updates since it was released.

Sometimes updates are deleted from the cache on the hard drive, it's pretty normal what your saying so i wouldn't worry too much.

I've tried this on a WD5000BPKT, but have not been able to get this be seen by the XBOX.

I've successfully flashed it, created the partitions using HddHackr 1.40 and can see the partitions in Xplorer 360 (but not Party Buffalo - it just hangs looking for drives - could this be an issue?).

I've also tried wiping the drive using DLGDiagv519 and reflashing, but nothing shows up.

Is there anything else that I can try? Anyone else got a BPKT to work?
