I am terribly sorry about that.

Maybe because the save file was on the console and I updated the game on USB?

You could try moving the save to USB also (or copy if possible so you have a backup), and ensure you installed the update from the correct region as that does matter.

Is there any way to check the system memory or hard drive to see does the old savefile still exist?

The save game will be saved on one of your storage devices.

I presume you are playing the game from a disc or installed to one of your storage devices? if you are using Loadiine GX2 then the save will be on the SD card, however from what you have said I get the impression your not using Loadiine.

I decided to abandon my old save file and I started a new one yesterday. Now I could use BotWTrainer but my laptop is terribly slow :)

I would like to say thank you for the guide. I was able to get HBL working on my system using your instructions. I haven't touched my Wii U since 2013. It's still on FW 3.1.0. I am a little late to the party now that N pushed 5.5.2 update. I installed Mario Party 10 and tried running it. It error with the 160-0101. I searched online in regards to the error code. All search point to a bricked system with that error code. Fortunately, I was able to to still boot my system. I am thinking my FW is to low to try and launch newer games that requires certain FW to run. My question is how do I go about getting a system update to 5.5.1. Can it be done offline ? I already ordered Mario Paper Color Splash, I've read that it contains the 5.5.1 update. Are there any other methods besides getting the system update via actual Wii U game disc ? I have dns blocked via the easy route. How do I check to see if my system downloaded the 5.5.2. I don't want to start the update from the Color Splash disc to find out that it's installing the downloaded 5.5.2 FW.

Using a game disc to update is the only way to update offline at present.

If your console has started downloading an update and the download hasn't finished, it should show in the download manager (even if your offline)

If the update has downloaded the console will install it when you start playing a game, their's nothing you can do to stop it which is why updates need to be blocked so they don't download. Keep in mind some games have patches which shouldn't be confused with system updates.

Hi Insane Nutter. I've got a question regarding the WiiU hacks.

Call me a noob, but this is the first I've looked into hacking my WiiU. I hacked my Wii to maximum effect, but have yet to have any luck with the WiiU.

Is it required to have a DS game downloaded on the WiiU to execute the hack on firmware 5.5.2? Is there a step by step video or tutorial on how to hack the WiiU to maximum effect?

It's not required however given how unreliable the web browser exploit is on 5.5.2 then if you don't want to be wasting hours of your time trying to launch Homebrew every time you power the Wii U off it will make your life a lot easier.

As for hacking the Wii U read the first page of this tutorial, it will get you setup with everything you need. More / updated apps can be downloaded from the Homebrew app store which you will have by following this tutorial.

A much more reliable exploit has been released for Wii U's on firmware 5.5.2 (the latest at the time of writing) so this tutorial and my wiiu.insanenutter.com exploit mirror have been updated to reflect this.

5.5.3 has been released, most likely for GDPR compliance. All previous hacks, homebrew and exploits should work fine from what people are reporting.

I've followed the instructions and am trying to load the homebrew through the browser on 5.5.3. I keep getting the error "error code 112-1006, could not display page" . Do you have any advice?

    Thanks

The DNS server to block updates probably doesn't work anymore if you are using that.

As you are on the latest firmware set the DNS server to automatically obtain and see if that helps.

I have tried removing the DNS server from the manual settings and changed it back to auto obtain a DNS server. Same error :(

Can you visit http://wiiu.insanenutter.com on a PC? my mirror certainly still works.

If so can you browse any other sites on the Wii U?

Could the problem be that I have primary and secondary DNS set on my router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4?
