Hi all, i have a little problem with Internet Explorer... i want to unistall it, but is not possible because windows XP cannot allowed it... can someone help me to remove IE? please...and I can not even manually remove the folders in IE
What problems are you having exactly? You may not need to unistall (even if you can). Have you tried using a different browser like FireFox or Safari?
even though people use firefox or another web browsing program, i think ie is still needed for the said random web browsing program to work.get what i mean?
I want to remove seriously IE from my computer, because is not secure and im using Firefox... oh no! are you sure?
I think if you go to add and remove and hit uninstall windows components and deselect IE it may then remove it. Hope this helps!
Doing what King says is the closest you will get to removing it, it won’t un install it but it will remove all the shortcuts to it. IE is needed by certain applications in XP so can’t be totally removed.
But as you found out it breaks things that depend on IE, Its good you can actually remove the applications you don’t want though.
It keeps the dll for things that use Imbedded IE, so everything iv tried works perfectly except for one link in steam which im sure will be fixed for the Windows 7 Final
IE If I'm not mistaken, you need IE for Windows Updates. *-) IE has it's faults, but don't believe other browsers are all secure. I use Firefox as well, but I do use IE plenty.
Here's How: Navigate to the Control Panel by clicking on Start, followed by Control Panel (or Settings and then Control Panel, depending on how you're setup). In the Control Panel window, open Add or Remove Programs. Note: In Microsoft Windows XP, depending on how your operating system is setup, you may not see the Add or Remove Programs icon. To correct this, click on the link on the left-hand side of the Control Panel window that says Switch to Classic View. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click on the Set Program Access and Defaults button on the menu on the left. Choose the Custom option in the Choose a configuration: area. In the Choose a default Web browser: area, uncheck the Enable access to this program check box next to Internet Explorer. Click OK. Windows XP will apply your changes and the Add or Remove Programs window will close automatically. Note: U can't update manualy computer because microsoft site need IE to run the update process.

Yep any version of Windows before Vista uses IE for Windows Update, on Vista and Windows 7 its a standalone application.
