I know that we already had a Gears 2 review, but I felt inspired to write a bit on the multiplayer aspect (even though it's been discussed before). I will try and put this as politely as possible. WHAT THE FUCK WAS EPIC THINKING?! *Exhale* Sorry for the outburst :-$. I mean did Epic even try when they worked on the multiplayer? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing it when it works correctly and everyone is playing fairly. The biggest complaint is the matchmaking. EPIC is ironic for the name of the company that made an EPIC FAIL in the matchmaking department. First, it takes forever to find a team, then when you do, it takes forever to find an opposing team. Another problem is with the damned shotgun. OMG, you could flip a coin with that gun because it works 50% of the time when you have a shotgun battle with someone else. I mean you shoot someone point blank with it, nothing happens. Then they do the same to you and kill you in one hit. Garbage. I just fnished a round where my shotgun did not kill anyone. Sure, they killed me but that's how it goes apparently. Another thing I hate is the experience system for ranking up. I mean, I get docked 3000 points for an incomplete round, when I had finished playing the whole thing start to finish. What the hell is that about? And why in god's name would they make you get demoted? You get a few levels up, then you have a bad game and you are back to square one. Thanks a whole lot Epic Games. I really hope they fix these things, and soon or I may just get rid of the game (even though the campaing is great).

Agreed 100%, campaign was sweet, bot play is sweet, but multi-player is so bad. They did screw it up. It appears to me though that they removed the smoke concussions. That was a great thing but it still sucks.

I can't decide whether I miss the concussions or not. But either way, the multiplayer sucks big time. Like I said before, the campaign was amazing, 10/10, but the multiplayer just drags it down.

I'd say you'd be more likely to just get rid of the game. I myself don't like the game at all (fortunately). The game has been out for around a year hasn't it? If it wasn't fixed by now don't expect it to be fixed.

Ya this is true, I do want to keep it to get the All Fronts Pack to play the new campaign chapter. Depending on how much I want to play that tho, I may just get rid of it and put some credit toward getting Prototype next week. Looking forward to that!

I have to agree with you Killer, I loaded Gears 1 up the other day. From the main menu I could get in to a game in about 15 seconds on a map I wanted to play... with Gears 2 it takes a couple of minutes and I ended up on a map I didn’t want to play.

As I moaned about in another post they should bring the server list browser back from Gears 1, Im glad smoke grenades no longer knock you over, the game still needs a lot of improvement multiplayer wise though.

As everyone else is saying through the campaign is great.

I personally think Matchmaking and premade playlists are ruining online gaming. No way a machine can decide what millions of players want to play in a game. The same for Halo 3. The GoW2 gameplay itself has indeed changed dramatically from Gears1, but after playing a ton of matches you'll get used to the new Shotgun and you'll still own with it.

But really, atleast 50% of the games I end up in are infested with a lagging host, teammates who are behind a firewall and lose connection before the game had even started, or the Submission gamemode than could take 1 hour of repeative actions.
