Serious Sam Getting an HD Makeover

Majesco Europe has announced that Serious Sam: The First Encounter will be remade in HD and released on the Xbox Live Arcade. The game is being developed by the original creators of the Serious Sam series, Croteam. The First Encounter HD is a remake of the original Serious Sam, and will use the Croteam's all-new CroTech engine.

The First Enconter HD will feature 4-player online co-op play. No word yet on how many Microsoft Points the game will cost. The First Encounter HD is expected to be released later this summer.

    Below are some announcement screenshots.

Nice, but don't forget about the PC

Don't own an Xbox and probably never will, they need to do this for the PC as well! The kids and I have only just recently finished all three Serious Sam games using co-op mode, had an absolute blast doing it too. Be nice to see this redone for the PC.

On the first pic the graphics look weird. The gun looks nice then the rest look like a game from 2001. Though I've never played a Serious Sam game for the most part this looks pretty good.

I have never played any of the old ones either but was thinking about picking them up and playing them. The game looks fairly decent, so hopefully this will follow Battlefield 1943's new standard of downloadable arcade games. We shall soon see.

Yeah, I wanted to mention the PC as well. People often forget PC versions which is a shame. I think it's nice but it's a shame they're not doing the Second Encounter. Would have been nice if they would have done both in one game.

I'm sure they will do a remake for the second one. Depending on how well this one sells of course.

I'm sure this one will sell nicely. I haven't played any of the Serious Sam games yet I'll most likely buy this when it comes out. I have a feeling other people feel the same way.;)

I don't know about HD, but I'm sure the graphics were better on PC than they were on the Xbox.

The original 2 games, the First and Second Encounters, came out in around 2000/01 and compared to the HD screens I've seen, the graphics on the original 2 games was crap

I would figure they would be. This HD remake looks pretty good, I just hope they tweak the graphics on the enemies a little. Other than that, the graphics of the weapons and environments look top notch.

I don't think the graphics were crap, I liked them. The first and second encounter are among my favorite games and personally I'd rather see the originals added to Steam than seeing them remade. You shouldn't mess around with something that's already great. Same goes for the Secret of Monkey Island remake.

O yes Monkey Island. Apparently there are going to be many more Monkey Island games released after this new one.
