Server Overload EA DICE's long awaited arcade game, Battlefield 1943, was released today on the Xbox Live Arcade. Upon downloading, I began to search for a game but was disappointed. After only a few seconds of searching, a message pops up saying, "No are games available at this time. Try again later." Eventually, I tried searching again, but it just gets stuck at the search menu, and the only way to get out of it is to go to the dashboard. There is a message from EA at the bottom of the start menu saying that their servers are at full capacity and players will experience problems for an unknown period of time. EA says they are adding more servers to meet the demands of the players, but so far these servers have only improved the gameplay for players in Europe. Hopefully the server issues will be fixed soon because I would like to play a round of the game today and not have to wait until tomorrow.
Bloody hell. Do they not expect alot of people will try it because there is a free trial so why dont they sort it before release. Alot of games have done this recently!
Thats ridiculous you can't even play the game that you bought. Screw EA and DICE. They can't even make their games enjoyable to all players. Its sort of obvious that they need to make a lot of servers. Its almost like them taking the money and running.
I managed to connect to a server after several try's this morning. Game seemed to be great though it had good graphics I do believe they could do better. Also the plane controls are so hard. I couldn't stay in the air for 30 seconds. Though it is a bit like bad company. except your not capturing gold your capturing flags. Buildings are destroyable though like in bad company. Overall a good game. worth 1200 points? Hardly. I'd probably give 800 but 1200 is a bit too much.
I like the game, even though I have only played the tutorial. I am a bit angry that I have not been able to play online yet. Too bad they can't compensate me with some of my points.
Good god, things never cease to amaze me. I am very happy that I could not play the game that I paid for today. If I can't get a game tomorrow before I go to work, I swear someone is going to get it.
Save your time. Whoever is going to get it would be the wrong person to get it. Also it never helps anyways just a total waste of time. It isn't 90,000 points on the XBL Marketplace on the Xbox anyways. Online it still seems to be 90,000.
Lol I guess you would have to want the game pretty bad to pay so much for it. I’m going to download the trial in a bit, I think 800 points would be the perfect price for this, it is a bit more advanced than your usual arcade game though (if it’s going to work) so I see why its 1200. Edit - I downloaded the trial and after a few attempts got in to a game, managed to sail across to the island before getting lagged out of the game. I’ll give it another go later, hopefully it will work then!
I agree, they said it was a full first person shooter but only multiplayer but they just wanted to put it on the arcade instead on disks. Im sure they put it to 90,000 points so people dont download it until they sort it out so people can actualy play.
As Safinn says I think it so anymore people dont buy it and kill the servers even more. It was 1200ms points when i looked this morning (UK market place) the trial was still unplayable tho, just couldn’t stay connected to a game longer than 30 seconds.
I actually was able to join a game earlier and it was a blast! Hopefully the servers are getting fixed.
EA and DICE Working Hard to Fix Battlefield 1943 "Issues"by Eric Bush By all accounts, Battlefield 1943's launch on Xbox Live Arcade got off to a fairly rough start. If you go by the mood of gamers across the internets, you can see high amounts of player dissatisfaction, as attempts to start or join games were met with lag or total inability to connect. The good news is, Electronic Arts and DICE were well aware of the situation, and a message from a DICE staffer on the EA forums in Europe tried to reassure players that help was on the way. In his first message, which was posted not long after the game became available, Gordon Van Dyke, a producer at the developer, noted: Good News, the game is incredibly successful beyond even my expectations. We have reached server capacity, but the bad news about this now some people can't join unless someone leaves. But don't worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360." Van Dyke updated that same message a number of times in the time since it was posted to explain the status changes that came in that time, with the fourth of five updates saying: We have full support of EA to add as many servers as takes and then some so that everyone can play. This work has already started and servers will be added around the clock with teams working to cover this 24 hours a day so not a moment is wasted!" His fifth update gave even better news, saying that around the time this news story is being posted, players should have fewer problems accessing servers: Xbox 360 will have around double the servers we have now by 4:30 PST (00:30 GMT)! This will be done in stages so please bear with us. We also increased PS3 servers before release and will keep increasing both the Xbox 360 and PS3's capacity until needs are met with enough extra for peak playing times! His message also added that BF1943 servers are currently located in Amsterdam, Miami, Fremont, California, and Tokyo, and that they are"adding more locations as we [need] to spread the load of players." Also, EA and DICE wanted to remind everyone that the challenge to rack up a community total of 43 million kills will start on Friday, and when that count is achieved, the Coral Sea map will unlock as a new map on which to play. They also passed on two new screens of this map to give you a taste of what's at stake. Found this on some site, but it still doesnt say anything about the 90000000000000000 (think i added a few to much 0's there hey) points for the game, but im sure they need to check that out aswell...
