Obama Makes Negative Comment About Xbox

G4TV reported that President Obama made an attack on the Xbox the other day when he made a speech in front of a group of elementary school students.

"Now I've given a lot of speeches about education. And I've talked a lot about responsibility. I've talked about your teachers' responsibility for inspiring you, and pushing you to learn," Obama said this morning in his address to the youth of the country. "I've talked about your parents' responsibility for making sure you stay on track, and get your homework done, and don't spend every waking hour in front of the TV or with that Xbox," Obama said.

Could a comment such as this suggest that Obama may be a PS3 fanboy? Or could he be a closet communist? Who doesn't enjoy some Xbox now and again? Perhaps Obama will join the masses soon and get himself an Xbox, and then he could get demos and themes from us here at Digiex ;).

It could also suggest he thinks the Xbox is the most popular console ;)

I'm more with that one, back in the days they use to say Playstations when they meant gameconsoles, its good to hear consoles refered generally as Xboxs now ;)

I think there was an article back when the elections took place saying he and his family did own a Wii. Here we go:Obama says Yes Wii Can | ITworld. Maybe he reckons that the Wii is better for family entertainment and the Xbox isn't.

No, he meant gameconsoles in general alright. Political speeches aimed at a crowd of youngsters won't be succesfull if it's all dazzling general-speaking, youngsters prefer to call things specific like with music genres (100 who-know-what variations of Metal etc). Calling a console to something familiar to them makes it easier to understand, and the actual message in that part of the speech wasn't even about the console but more of the 'anything that youngsters do that doesn't typically improve your position in society' kind of thing..

I am suprised that he knew what to call the xbox. my Parents still call my Xbox an egg box.

I think he chose the xbox because its the most popular of the consoles.
