Mass Effect 2 Has Successful Launch Day

Mass Effect 2 had a very strong advertising campaign and was received very well by critics, so it is no surprise that the game did extremely well on launch day in the Americas. According to VGChartz, around 500,000 units were sold on day one. It is estimated that over 700,000 copies of the game will be sold by Saturday. With a strong launch expected in Europe, especially the UK, it is said that over one million copies can be sold worldwide by Saturday.

The original Mass Effect sold 2.1 million copies on the Xbox 360 worldwide, and 400,000 in week one. Mass Effect 2 is going to outsell its predecessor without a question.

This game is a joke, it really is. Making people pay $15 for an unlock key is ridiculous, its obviously on the disc already as its only 156KB for download. It seems every gaming company is becoming greedy. (Yeah I had to blurt out something that had really little relevance to the subject.:D)

We're used to it. Really just because they charge that much for an unlock key does not say anything about the quality of the game. You're aware that every game comes with a Cerberus Network card right? The only way you would have to pay for the unlock key is if you somehow got the game used or something. Even though EA is charging for the unlock key, the game is still one of the best I have ever played. And if people enjoy the game enough, they will pay for the downloadable content, it's a fact of life. Sure, charging that much may be a bit much but like I said before, there is no correlation between that and the game's quality. End of retort.

Yes, I do know that it comes with a new copy of the game but paying 15 for an unlock key is way too much. Even when you buy it used and then pay for the unlock key it would be like purchasing a new copy of the game (until the price of the game really goes down in price). As if they didn't make enough profit just from the new copies that will sell, they have to make a profit of the people that buy it used. I do know that paying for unlock keys is nothing new but while saying that just because we know that this is happening more and more that doesn't mean that we still shouldn't be angry over the fact that it happens and honestly I found the first Mass Effect to be completely dreadful so quality doesn't mean much to me when talking about the games quality.

What was so dreadful about the first Mass Effect? In my opinion, BioWare has never made a bad game, and ME2 is no exception. You may not have been too thrilled with the first ME, but looks like there were quite a few people that would not agree with you.

A game that sells over 4 million copies must be somewhat decent, or it wouldn't have such huge numbers.

i never played mass effect because it was compared to fallout 3. i found fallout 3 to be so mind-numbingly boring that i wanted to shoot myself.

choosing dialogue gets old around the 5th time. i liked dragon age: origins for a while, but it got boring because the enemies level with you and the fight is exactly the same throughout the game. how could it get any more boring?
