In the Netherlands. I mean, it's not only lagging for me, but for everybody else too. Sometimes people leave because of it.
It *IS* really laggy. I've been playing on the digiex sever since before it moved over a year ago and slowly but steadily performance is decreasing. I'm not sure if the recent renewal that was done, was a downgrade, but there's quite long periods of time when it's actually unplayable. Just saying it, how I see it, it's definatley getting worse as time goes by.
Unlike the Digiex website which is run on 2x dedicated servers, one for the website and one for the downloads the UT server is on a shared box which runs various other things for other people, i presume when other peoples processes are doing demanding stuff the server doesn't have enough resources to dedicated to our server so becomes laggy. To get a server thats dedicated to just the UT server it would cost us over double what were paying now, which is a bit hard to justify as none of the 4 people paying for the server have much spare cash (broke students) or even play the game much anymore. Unlike the Digiex website the UT server doesn't do anything to help pay for its self, if a few of the regulars wanted to contribute to the UT server like myself, Nimrod, Trebor and Steve do maybe we could get a dedicated server that solely runs the UT server and nothing else.
I will as soon as I have spoken to some people over at Titan (ut2004.titaninternet.co.uk). They host one of my favourite Freon servers, I know them well and when my connection isn't going slow I can usually get a 16 (sometimes lower) ping to their servers from the UK. I will then discuss the cost with the rest of us who already pay and we'll get back to you. Bearing in mind we've already renewed the server quite recently so it may be sometime til we switch servers.
I think you were sold a pup on this server renewal. At 2:45am German time with ONE human player on a small map (Egyption war) I experienced lag that was in the 1 sec plus range. ONE player in the early hours... I think it's time you looked at other options, I suspect your server people are extracting the urine .
Hello admins, As paid subscribers to a service, you should be aware that the server performance is degrading quickly. For example, the server is now caught in some kind of loop where it shuts down every 15-45 minutes. The lagging and disconnects have been increasing in seriousness and frequency. It's getting to be unplayable. I know you're all very busy, and I thank you again for providing this server to the gaming community at large. If you decide to give up on the server because it is experiencing too many problems, I wouldn't blame you. But you should know that these days, your service provider is not giving you what you paid for ...
Very often the teams are not balanced and the game ends with scores like 5 - 0 or 5 -1. So, maybe you guys can add this little mutator to the server. Btw; What happened to the Santa Hat mutator?
Fantastic idea, all too often you have the guys with 100+ all gang up, and it makes the experience not much fun as you get yet another 5-0 beating
Totally agree, that would be a great addition to the server! Nice one, Raffie. It would also help prevent the dreaded 'switcher noobs' from switching mid-match from the losing to the winning team.
Hello, I read the readme file. This mutator doesn't prevent to change team. '-When a new game starts, the players in the game are sorted by their skill score from highest to lowest. -If a new player joins, and the teams are unbalanced, then a new bot is added to the team with the lower number of players. -If a player leaves, and one team is short a player, then a bot is added to compensate for the difference. Bot skill varies depending on the skill difference between the teams. If there is a difference in skill between the players, then the first bot added will have an appropriate skill (which is the difference) assigned to them. Additional bots added to make up the rest of the difference are the lowest skill bots.' Good idea or not ? Gorge
I still think its worth a try, put it this way, it won't be any worse than what we have now, where you're completely dependant on good nature for players to adjust fairly - and all too often that just doesn't happen.

Alright Gorge. I don't know much about that mutator so i can't answer those questions. I found another one. It's called ServerExt. Some admin of another server recommended it to me, when i asked him about it.
Found another cool little mutator, Crotch Shot Pro v3. Download Crotch Shot Pro Version 3 Mutator in action : You can hear the announcer saying head/crotch shot out loud. It adds a little more fun to the instagib gun.
