I'm trying to use Internet Connection Sharing (usually using it if I want to get on XBL without buying the wireless adapter). I have a problem now though, the ICS tab does not show up at all. On the Microsoft website it says "The Sharing tab will not be available if you have only one network connection." I'm not exactly sure what they mean by that but I have used ICS with this laptop before, anyone have an idea how I can fix it?

It means you need at least two network connections, the internet connection you want to be shared and the connection you want to share the internet connection to.

For example your likely sharing the laptops wireless connection to the laptops ethernet connection.

If you check the network connections do you see at least two connections? for example in the screenshot below I have my mobile phones 3g conection (internet) shared to my computers ethernet connection.

If one of the connections is disabled you need to enable it.

Im not sure what your doing so remember both connections must be connected and active before you can enable sharing. Also ensure your right clicking on the internet connection and sharing that, you could be trying to share the lan connection by accident.

Thanks for that, I figured it out. Somehow the Ethernet port got disabled, which makes no sense because no one disabled it but anyways it works again.

When you use ICS your 360 is essentially behind two firewalls, your router and the PC sharing the internet connection.

Try giving your pc a static ip address, then forward port 3074 from the router to your pc, you then need to foward port 3074 from the laptop to the Xbox 360.

Your 360's nat should be open then, that did help with random disconnects from live for me, although its probably down to poor wireless signal.

Before we wired the house up with a network point in each room I used to use ICS for Xbox Live too, for me it did randomly disconnect on the dashboard, however was always fine if I was actually playing a game.

It's not the wireless connection because the laptop is still connected when the xbox disconnects. I will try what you said.

Well, this problem definitely doesn't happen for me (anymore). As InsaneNutter said a Static IP would definitely help or you could make sure you don't have too many connections at once, whenever I tried to connect to XBL with Utorrent I would get disconnected. This is because I had too many connections at once, so if you have something like Utorrent up or possibly an IM program or something along those lines, totally exit out of them that should definitely help. You should be able to connect to the router and up the connection limit. I tried to set up a static IP but every time I tried to the internet connectivity would just disappear so I gave up on that one.
