Microsoft confirmed today that there will be no third season for their Xbox 360 version of 1 Vs. 100 and that the game won't be returning Kotaku reports.

"When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept," said Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios. "We're very proud of the ‘1 vs 100' team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we've learned to future programming."

During the beta season more than 114,000 people played the game on Xbox Live simultaneously.

According to Microsoft the 1 Vs. 100 team is now "focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop "1 vs 100" to new projects that will be unveiled in the future."

Let's hope that Microsoft is more supportive of those projects then they apparently were of this one.

I suppose this whole '1 vs 100' thing was USA only. I've heard of it when they announced NXE but I haven't seen anything of it here in Europe.

It was on the dashboard for the UK last Christmas, I'm not sure about the rest of Europe though.

The game was quite fun, managed to get the whole family playing it... which is very unusual for a game on the 360.

I did hope it would come back so I could get the rest of the Achievements in it.

Only played this one a few times, wasn't really too thrilled with it. Wonder what the development team's next project will be...

According to Kotaku, sources close to the 1 Vs. 100 project revealed that the game fell victim to mismanagement. The source reveals that 1 Vs. 100 project was constantly being handed off to other people within Microsoft Game Studios. This resulted in the project failing to get the right resources to market and acquire ads for the game.

Without the proper ad support lined up, maintaining the project became difficult. Ultimately, the game was causing a strain on its revenue stream, which ultimately made Microsoft cancel the project. However, one good news is that the framework developed to make the game will be used to create future titles. The developers of 1 Vs. 100 left a sorrowful farewell letter on the official blog.

That and they contemplated about charging $50.00USD for it.. and people don't want to pay.. 1 vs. 100 TV show was a free thing to make people money.. this was the same thing...(sorta) but free gamer points.. so the fact they couldn't charge and not enough ad-space it was a FAIL for microsofts pocket.

they cut it because it didn't get enough hype or money.. and didn't please the share holders.
