I grow tired of seeing people spamming on and on about the same old thing on Digiex. OMG THE NEW DASHBOARD OMG OMG OMG!! You guys fill up the recent posts so fast that any new interesting post that appears is gone in 30 seconds... If you guys need to talk about something in particular without being annoying, please could you add each other on some chat program and talk there? Sorry if this came on very harshly, but honestly... be more organized about small things like a dashboard update. MSN IS YOUR FRIEND, USE IT! Rage post now over.
You DEFINITELY aren't the only one. Its an official dashboard and everyone is freaking out as if it'll be special. Its OFFICIAL, meaning it was made by MICROSOFT, that should get rid of your hopes right there. With so many posts i've seen about dashboards and wanting the newest update even if its just 0.0.00001 away from the last dashboard they want it immediately EVEN THOUGH THE ONLY THING IT ACTUALLY DOES IT FIX ONLINE STUFF and the people that are asking for it obviously don't have online so it doesn't matter. There are quite a few times i've just wanted to be a total ass to people because they are SO IMPATIENT and think that just because they don't have a life that everyone else on here doesn't have one either. I don't become a total jerk because obviously its not my forum so its not my place to start things that can be avoided. If people were actually appreciative of it things would be different but you know they aren't when they still demand other things seconds after they get what they wanted in the first place, its never enough for them and it never will be.
Scyth is the only one that understands what I'm like! XD. This is why him and I have lovely conversations over XBL FEATURES.
The point of a thread is to discuss something, if you find the topic "annoying" then either steer the conversation in another direction or stop reading the thread. Or better yet, make your own thread about something you find interesting. You can't complain about anyone spamming anything when you mention your irrelevant, overused and asinine buzz words in every other topic you make or post in. MSN is also your friend. Use it.
I do use MSN. Rustwick, my only problem is that whenever I come to Digiex, I like to see new posts in the recent posts section but I only see things about NXE... That's the only thing that bothers me. Also, why do you dislike me so much
If it's a popular subject, any thread about it is going to receive a lot of posts - meaning that the "Recent Posts" column is going to get clogged with it. Stick to searching the actual forum and you'll be more likely to avoid the problem. How you feel about seeing these posts all the time is how I feel when I see the buzz words all over the place, especially when I have to put up with it in real life on an almost daily basis. It wears thin fast when it's used so much. The first time I made a comment about you was meant to be more of a hint to cut down on the buzz words and not to be taken too seriously, but if it was, I'm sorry. You have to remember that if this is how you're going to present yourself (and I don't talk to you outside of this forum, so I don't see any other side of you) then people can only make certain conclusions about you. As for the second comment (above), the first part is simply advice to avoid the problem you seem to have. The reply to the second quote is me pointing out the hypocrisy of your two posts, which I think was fair and wasn’t meant as an attack on you. Short version: I don't dislike you. I dislike the buzz words that get thrown around way more than they should.
I understand what AntiNaz is saying, and who he is referring to. The posts have been deleted now but yesterday a certain person had replied to the same post 6 times without anyone else replying to his previous message. His extra 5 posts added nothing at all to the conversation... his first didn't either to be honest. (I'm sure you can work out who... he is the only guy I have ever seen on Digiex who has got his reputation in the red...) I have nothing against the buzz words, it appears to be all good fun, but each to there own.
The front page could be better I know, I would like it to just show the topic titles of the threads with the most recent posts in, not the same thread 5 times. As far as that goes we didn't realise just how poor the built in CMS (the front page) on vBulletin 4 would be, it has a fair few bugs so were trying to make the best of a bad situation at the moment. We have fixed a few our selfs, however it is supposed to be improved in vBulletin 4.1 which will be released soon, if nothing has improved by then the CMS we used on vBulletin 3 has been updated for vBulletin 4 so we could use the old style front page again.
Alright, thanks alot guys. That cleared up a whole lot in fact! Rustwick, no harm done in telling you opinion, I could always cut down on the words. I didn't know you got those words thrown around too much... Thanks for all the updates on this and the whole situation. Thanks alot, Digiex!
I don't think I've ever actually checked out the new posts feature on Digiex. What I do is just load up the forum page and see what new posts there are that way. It's normally obvious from the topic title what'll be discussed and so if I have no interest in it I don't read it. Though I have to say even with me doing this I have seen a major increase in Dashboard discussion!
Honestly guys, I wouldn't rely on the panel on the front page for seeing new posts. I know I did on the old Digiex like most of you, but with the influx of posts its becoming a nightmare to work with. However, in VB4 we have this lovely "Whats New?" button in the Navbar. If you use it, while signed in its great. It uses your User ID and past viewing, to figure out exactly what threads have changed since you last viewed Digiex, and shows them up in a nice big search grid, you can then pick the few topics which interest you and read them, while ignoring the rest. Then, to make it even better, when you finished your Digiex browsing session, go onto the sub-navbar and under Forum Actions, click "Mark all threads as read", that way threads you didnt want to read on your session, will be marked as read and not show up on your next visit. Using that is now my preferred way of browsing Digiex.
