Nope you will not really notice anything with regards to the different drives, if your not bothered about playing Xbox 1 games you don't need to restore partition 2

Try running it with admin rights and see if it works ok then.

    I had it figured out.

download the bootable usb creator tool to c:\
unzip it to the same folder
    right click tool as administrator
do everything as suggested by this article
    *****
click on a button with 3 dots to point to C:\Bootable_USB_Drive_Creator_Tool\USB Drive Boot Files\MS-DOS
    *****
    click on Start.

How did you format the new drive as FAT? I downloaded and tried Bootable_USB_Drive_Creator_Tool but it only lists FAT32 and NTFS as options? Everyone else I've read hasn't listed this as a problem...so apparently I'm a complete dork and did something wrong. I selected to put a MBR on it when I first attached it to my box - could this have caused my problem? Don't know if it matters but i'm running windows 7/64

    Thanks!

I did not any actual steps. what i did is to:

    - plun in USB drive
    - launch tool by right click on run as a admin
    - a dialog pops up; the usp drive is already being selected under Device text box
    - I check File System list box again for you, it listed FAT as default and another one is FAT32. i don't se NTFS though.

i bet that it may something to do with win7/64. try it on some 32bit OS.

ps. the whole process is very simple and I did not encounter any glitch. I did this on my laptop, replace HD with my 250gb HD (bought from newegg.com for $37), changed bios from AHCI to ATA, plug in bootable USB, boot from USB ... then follow exact steps listed in this article. and get it successful flushed and recognized by xbox 360 slim as 228GB. I just plug it to the xbox 360 slim with no case, and it seems secured properly... good luck!

    Many Thanx Regarding the tutorial

After a few small probs were ironed, 1. couldnt get my slappy to recognise the hdd via
external hdddocking or the ide /sata bridge. 2 my bios wouldnt allow the changes
necessary . So went with plan 2 hooked the hdd direct via sata to my desktop created the boot drive with a SD card via card reader.Hey Presto 10mins later installed the Hdd to my 360S 4Gb , backed up all my games to it without a hitch.
    The Drive was the 250 GB Western Digital WD2500BEKT S £29.30 , From Scan.co.uk
Ebayed a hdd case £8.00. which makes the fitting foolproof.
    Conclusion RESULT!!!!!

    Question...

Hello. I don't know if this has been answered before, so please don't hate. But instead of doing the Xplorer thing, can I just use the Transfer Cable to transfer all my data to the new hdd?

Also, how does this method keep MS from seeing that it isn't a "valid" hdd?

I don't know if this was posted already or not, but I keep getting an error everytime I try to make my USB bootable. I've tried it on multiple flash drives and this is the same error I get, I've even tried it on different computers:

EDIT: I figured out the problem. I had the Bootable USB files on the flashdrive, not my desktop..lol

Hi guys. I made a terrible mistake. I bought a 500gb out of greed. I know found out 500gbs work on jtags. Is it not possible for a jtag owner to dump the hddsss.bin for others to use on non jtags?

    well, i am stuck.

i have a 2 gig usb thumb drive formated into FAT, any larger wont format to t hat old ass file system.
    i can boot from usb!
i boot my netbook up, and type in the phrase, hddhackr
the dos prompt moves to the next line underneath and blinks
the led on the thumn drive blinks for a few seconds
the netbook is frozen. i have to remove the battery to reboot. i ahve let it sit n grind at wahtever its doing for 1/2 a day. i have tried many configs.
its a new netbook, got it last year.
i have a WD scorpio blue bevt, was 35 bucks at newegg.
its the exact same drive as in the tutorial.

i guess my question is, does anyone else have an Acer One netbook, and if so, does this have the options i need? is this just a screwed up drive?
i have tried using my desktop also, to no avail. i can boot up correctly, but i cannot change the sata options correctly (older sata options).

i guess i shuold jsut get another drive ;/

    Help please

first i wanted to say that i am brand new to the site. and here is the problem i have i got the bootable disk to boot up just fine and everything is on right the problem is that my computer doesnt have a place to connect a sata hardrive. it has some other thing that has little pricks all around the top i think its called ata but not sure. so i was wondering if there was a way to connect the hard drive i bought to an external hard drive connector and do it that way or if theres a ata to sata cable connector or if i should just go to a friends house and do it there.

tehres a gizmo on amazon for a few dollars that converts a SATA to IDE. i think from what you describe that is what you need.
you cannot use USB for this, you need to give the computer root access to the hard drive, USB doesnt allow this, so it has to be internal.

you could always try borrowing a friends laptop for a few minutes.

I have a WD2500BEVS that came out of my laptop that was made in 2007. I formatted it so it took everything off of it and i tried to do this, it let me get all the way to where i click F to flash then it says do you want to do the firmware Yes do you want to create a partition Yes then it says its not responding do i want to wait till it responds yes or no. IT says its designed for a Western Digital HDD which is what i have. why isnt it working? Could it just be my computer?

Nope, only the drives listed in the first page will work.

Flashed the latest bios for the Acer One? the ability to enable / disable AHCI was added in a later bios on the MSI Wind, which is a similar Netbook to the Acer One.

You could buy a PCI Sata card, such as this: StarTech.com 1 Port eSATA + 1 Port SATA PCI SATA.. | Ebuyer.com

Your not doing that in Windows are you? You have to boot in to Dos, it will not work running it from Windows.

Nope it will not harm your laptop in any way, if you alter any options for ACHI in the bios just be sure to change them back. The USB drive can be any size, you could even use an old 16mb one if you wanted.
