Fantasic guide and works treat......however i still have a problem :(

Have flashed the drive and Xbox sees it no problem. But when i try to xfer the data from the 4gb internal flash (i have the slim) to the HDD, it fails. At first i thought that it was just down to the fact the the data on the internal flash was not xferable, but then i tried to download a few demos onto the HDD.......and that fails too!!

Im no technological idiot, but im at a compleate loss as im new to this xbox stuff (never had a console in my life!) Anyone got any ideas?

I have a Question that may have been answered already but I looked through some of threads and didn't see the answer.
I assume that after I copied the files from my 120gb hdd, that it will be empty, but still able to use it in the xbox.
Is this correct? I have a slim 4gb and a regular 120gb xbox. I want to transfer my stuff to the new 250 and put it in the slim and then return the 120 to the old xbox, with no data on it.

    thanks in advance

Ok, I understand all of this except I can't get the DOS boot from my USB. Have a new Kingston 2G USB & BIOS does see it, press F8 to get to boot priority switch to USB and just goes to the black screen w/ a J and a flashing cursor. What am I doing wrong? Desktop w/ WinXp/sp3, basic mojo.

    Any help is appreciated.

when you say a 'j' and a flashing cursor, is it more like a 'j:' and a flashing cursor? if so it has already booted to your usb drive, now type in 'hddhackr' and hit enter ;)

Thanks for the reply, no there is no : mark, just the J. Will not let me type anything, only will reset w/ CTRL ALT DEL. I'm beginning to think it's either file corruption or my MOBO is deceiving and cannot actually boot from the USB, cannot find any other settings that seem to change anything.

    Thx! :)

Possible with BEVT500 Scorpio Blue ?

Is this hack possible with a 500gb drive ?

If so, do I need a different HDDSS ?

sorry, i realise there is no official 500gb drive yet.

what i mean is, if I use a 500gb drive, can i use it with the 250 files, and will it be recognised as a 250

Yes if you use the 250gb hddss.bin, it will be recognized as a 250gb hdd by the 360. If a 500gb hdd is ever released by Microsoft you could update it with a 500gb hddss.bin to regain the missing space. I'm not sure if you'd need to format the hdd or not after that.

If you're using a Jtag (homebrew) console, you can use the 500gb at it's full size without using a hddss.bin, but the hdd wont work with a USB transfer cable.

    I hope that helps!

    Hi

I just bought an modded Xbox HDD from a shop and found that I can only use around 50GB. When trying to install more games, the console restart. When connected, the xbox can see its true capacity. I did try replacing those HDD for 3 times and all of them got same problem, can be used for only 35-50GB.

I did open the case and see that it is using WD Blue series HDD. I did try using hddhackr with 250GB BIN and it says that HDD it is already matched and should have no problem with my Xbox360.

So I just wonder, is there a way to check if the HDD itself has problem (like bad sectors) or a way to restore and hack the HDD again? But I do not have the original firmware because it's been hacked already.

Sorry for my poor English and thank you in advance.

    Help please!

Ok, so I can get as far as entering hddss.bin. After I git enter, it tells me to enter the firmware backup file name (e.g. UNDO.BIN) . If I type in "undo.bin" I get an error message saying "reading hdd sector 16 failed!" Im stuck. Was I supposed to drag a undo.bin file into the flash drive as well?

It's very likely that sector 16 or even 16-22 is blank so the program thinks it's failing to read the sector when in fact nothing is actually there.

Open the drive in a hex editor, look at sector 16-22, if they're blank then don't bother with any backup and just flash the drive (again with a hex editor if hddhacker doesn't work). If you find any data in those sectors with the hex editor (WinHex or Hex Workshop should work) then back them up before flashing.

People seem to have a hard time getting the whole alternate Hex Editor method. If I have some free time (extremely unlikely) I can try to make a quick tutorial on how it's done. Or maybe Insane Nutter can append his tutorial?

    Hey guys,

first of all thank you for this awesome tutorial!
I did it with an WD2500BPVT! Before I removed the old 20gb HDD I moved all files except FIFA11 installation to an USB-Stick - damn (would be better now if i haven't done this step).
Well, ok... the 250gb works, but I cant play XBL demos like Toy Soldier and Liero (the error message says that i have to update my system to play that games) but before the hdd change i could play these games on my 20gb HDD without any problems. Some other games like Bomberman are still working.

There is another problem. Since I use this new HDD my profiles have no Avatars, only a dark picture, how can i fix this? (Avatar Editor doesn't run like Toy Soldier and Liero)!

Thanx and sorry for my bad english!

    just, tobad!

tobad you need to run the official system update from microsoft while your hard drive is connected. It can be found here: https://digiex.net/downloads/downlo...oard-update-2-0-12416-0-avatars-download.html or you can just put in a newer (wave 9) game on your system to update it.

Your hard drive has multiple partitions, one for xbox1 emulation support, one for 360 DLC, saves, and other critical data, another for important system drivers and support files like Avatars, and kinect drivers. Building the hard drive partitions and data structure is causing your problems. Good luck!
