Thanks rick550. so just to confirm:

1: Run the hddhackr through my laptop on new 250gb hdd
2: Install the new 250gb hdd into case and format via xbox 360
3: Then swap back to original 20gb hdd and connect new 250gb hdd to transfer cable
4: follow on screen instructions to complete transfer

Also will the transfer kit work on the 250gb because when MS sent it to me the 250gb did not exist, it was originally for the 120gb Elite Console,

That looks like it should work just fine. It'll transfer the content to the 250GB just fine as it's the 360 that defines what it sees not the transfer cable.

    hey guys,

    some strange effects:

    i have successfully converted a WD2500BPVT (25 SEP 2010) to a XBOX 250 GB HDD.
I did some copy stuff from the old XBox HDD (20 GB Seagate) and sometimes the Xplorer360 crashes.

Cause I want to buy a 12 month xbl card and of course go online I want to be sure that my HDD is not detectable. Thats why I wanted to format the 250 GB HDD and start from the beginning. After formating it in the xbox i formated it in windows xp (NTFS,no Quickformat) but I am still able to load the drive in Xplorer360, xtaf, Party Buffalo Drive Explorer, Modio .
I can use it now in Windows as a normal HDD and the xbox files are also there. ... so where the hell are they saved and how can i delete all of the information about them?

hope you all understand what i'm trying to say. do i have to use hddhackr restor function to delete the xbox information and apply the hddss.bin afterwards to start from 0.

    just, tobad

yeah i know, but the files from the xbox are still available trought Xplorer360.... even after i formated the HDD with NTFS (no quickformat)

    EDIT:

Yeah got it: the low level format was the solution! thanks to Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS from Western Digital

    Hi few questions

    1. When using xplorer 360 extreme to backup partitions on original hdd data, will all data remain on that hdd (just in case all goes wrong I have still got my original 20gb hdd to pop back in)

    2. What is the correct way to backup partition 3 with xplorer, as I would require all data (not sure what dump your Partition 3 means in the guide)

    3. Can the backup and retore process be done on laptop with the migration kit via USB or does it need to be connected to sata (as when doing the hddhackr)

Sorry if these are stupid but I have to get it right in my head before attempting it

    Generic Troubles.

I got a WD AV-25 Series BUDT and I followed all the directions, at the end of the HDDHackr program it showed the same changes to the firmware and serial number etc... Yet when I try to stick it in my new Xbox 360 slim it still isn't recognized. I am pretty sure I got it seated pretty well because now I can't even pull the darn thing out with my fingers. Any suggestions?
