    Hi, been looking thru everything...

its seems that Eugene86 method works....

using the 1.25 ver of hddhackr.exe for those using WD 320GB Scorpio Blue HDD...

when i use the ver 1.3 ver of hddhackr, it does not prompt to partition the 0/1/2 partition at all....

so I reflash back the UNDO.BIN, flash again using 1.25ver hddhackr, it do all the 3 task for me automatically...namely, the sectors 16-22 rewritten successfully, create partition successfully and finally flashed the firmware successfully....

maybe try the old 1.25ver hddhackr, maybe it works??

you run hddhackr use the undo option and make sure your undo.bin is on the flash drive and that should be it

    Hello,

I recently bought this harddrive ($45 at the time) for use with my brother's new slim 4GB console. I was wondering if I can use the old xbox 360 data transfer cable to connect it to my computer so I can restore partition 2 (these drives have been flashed to work with the 360, but the xbox 1 emulator is missing from partition 2). If not, how would I connect it to my PC?

Sorry if this has already been asked, I didn't read past the first couple pages.

    Thanks

    This cable?

I know it would work with the older 360 HDD, but I don't see how it would connect to the drive I bought. The ports on the drive I got appear to be SATA.

if you have a old xbox 360 hard drive case you can swap the hdd and connect it with the cable http://img.diytrade.com/cdimg/10005...DD_Hard_Disk_Drive_Case_for_Xbox_360_Grey.jpg

the piece that has the wires is a transfer cable end to a sata data/power
    or
connect it to the dvd or cd drive cables inside a desktop and power it on and transfer the partition

Ah, I didn't even think of that. Unfortunately I don't have an old hard drive case, but I'll just unplug my DVD drive and do it that way.

EDIT: Unplugged the DVD drive of my HP Pavilion Slimline desktop and plugged in the 360 hard drive in its place. Xplorer wasn't recognizing the drive at first, but I remembered reading something about having to run as administrator on Vista and it then found the drive and the restore went smoothly. Only took about 20 seconds to replace the partition. Now the xbox is backwards compatible. Thanks again for that suggestion, rick550.

Following up on my own earlier posts here. Sorry it took me so long to chime back in, but I've unfortunatly had to deal with a serious family illness the past few weeks so that takes precedence. My dad is successfully fighting Stage IV Kidney cancer. He's doing great, but if any of you are so inclined even random "good energy" or prayers if you lean that way are much appreciated. ;)

Ok, now on to the business at hand:

Rather than put wear n tear on my laptop performing this procedure, I went ahead and purchased/used the above listed card:

SYBA SY-VIA6421-3S1P PCI SATA / IDE Controller Card (Newegg.com - SYBA SY-VIA6421-3S1P PCI SATA / IDE Controller Card).

I used it with (3) WD Black 500GB 7200RPM drives (model WD5000BPKT) using hddhackr 1.3 (the latest version I think). The reason I purchased the 500GB drives is bc they were on sale for only $60 shipped (only about $15 more than the slower 5400RPM 250GB drives) they are the newest 7200RPM WDs and because I have a sneaking suspicion MS will eventually allow bigger HDDs with the 360, which gives these drives room to grow (literally).

I'm happy to report my experience with this process was very easy and totally painless. In reading this entire thread prior to trying the procedure, I was prepared to have all kinds of problems. But was astounded when I was able to flash and partition all 3 drives and then install them in 3 different 360s (2 launch models, 1 new 4GB slim model) and have them immediately recognized as "228GB free" drives. :)

One slight "wrinkle" in the process that I should mention for anyone else who decides to purchase & use one of these newer drives, is that during the flash process hdhackr did NOT ask me to partition after flashing the drive. I had to run hddhackr.exe from the command prompt again and tell it to partition the drives. At that point I was a bit nervous because I had read in this thread that people who had done this and not had the program prompt to partition had trouble. I'm happy to report that it worked just fine. So, if you run into this small "problem" when using hddhackr 1.3, simply re-run it and tell it to partition. This worked just fine for me.

This leads me to believe that most of the problems that people are experiencing with this process are due to the chipset on their computer or laptop. Using the Syba controller card made this process smooth as silk. Thanks to AciDex for recommending this controller card. I may buy 1 or 2 more of these just in case they go out of production. They are really cheap, so why not? :)

Thanks to all for this guide and continued support. I'll come back on again, hopefully a little more often, so I can participate a little more here. Cheers and good luck to all!

    undo the drive
rename the undo file to undo.old
    format the drive to ntfs
run hddhackr again & make partitions using hddhackr (it should ask you)
    restore partition 2
    format in xbox 360

if i use hddhackr version 1.3,it don't ask me to create partitions, should i create it manually?
does restore partition 2 essential? at front page,it say that i can skip this step,
    is that true?

    Need assistance with flash

Hey forum :) I recently bought a Western Digital 250gb HD SATA2 (WD2500BEVT) and I'm having problems flashing the hardrive......I had to use FAT32 when creating the USB and I copied the hddhackr file and Hddss.bin to the flash drive.....I connected the USB to the computer and the 250gb HD to SATA Pri....I get alittle confused when dealing with the bios setup.....I set boot priority to USB and enabled legacy......I didn't know what else I had to enable or disable....maybe that's where I went wrong.....then I typed hddhackr.....chose the HD that was indicated.....typed F to Flash firmware.....wrote HDDSS.BIN and created back up UNDO.BIN.....when I hit [enter] I get error in red [Reading HDD sector 16 failed! DRQ Error: 0x0802]. Hopefully someone will be able to help me out.

First of all, thanks for the tutorial and totally RESPECT.

I flashed my wd 3200bevt hdd with 1.25 hddhackr. Everything worked fine, i got the same thing that in the last tutorial picture. (successfully dump, partition and flash)

But my xbox 360 s 4gb didn't find the hdd. maybe i didn't put in the hdd hard enough , coz i'm afraid of i brake it.

    pls help me.

Sorry my english is not perfect.
