Catherine (キャサリン Kyasarin?) is a horror, puzzle-platformer, adventure video game developed and published by Atlus. The game was released in Japan on February 17, 2011, and is planned for a release in North America on July 26, 2011. Players control a man named Vincent who, after meeting a strange girl named Catherine, begins having strange nightmares, during which he might be killed. The main story mode, Golden Theater, follows the story between Daytime and Nightmare scenarios. During the daytime, Vincent will converse with his friends as well as try to handle his relationship with the two women, Catherine and Katherine. Most of this time takes place in the Stray Sheep bar where Vincent can save and send text messages from his mobile phone, talk to customers, order drinks, play a minigame titled Rapunzel or listen to a jukebox containing tracks from other Atlus games such as the Persona series. The Nightmare stages are where the main gameplay takes place. In a nightmarish dreamworld inhabited by other men, who are represented as sheep, Vincent must climb up giant staircases that are slowly collapsing underneath him and safely reach the top. To accomplish this, Vincent must push, pull and climb blocks as quickly as possible while avoiding various traps such as spikes and ice. I'm guessing it will not be that popular outside Japan, however after playing the demo I think it will be a day one purchase for me.
I've been pumped waiting for this game for quite a few months now. As soon as I heard it was being made by the team that made the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series, I knew i'd be buying it the first day possible. This little tid bit is for Nutter. Atlus is teaming up with Deep Silver to bring Catherine to PAL regions.
I do not really think that this game deserves a full retail price tag. It was rather going be a good idea with Arcade downloadable title.
Nice to know we will get it eventually, the US version is confirmed region locked so this will be one for the Jtag for now anyway. Have you got your copy yet Scyth? i've only played up to where the demo ended on the retail however i'm enjoying it so far.
Not yet but it definitely will be here later today. My pre-order comes with an art book and audio cd. Since the music is done by the team that made Persona 3 and 4 i'm sure it'll be nice to listen to. Depending if this CD isn't sold anywhere I can rip it and upload to digiex if you'd like!
Yup feel free to rip and upload that, I see no problem with limited edition stuff like that. I have uploaded various things like that myself in the past. Ive been reading up on the game and apparently it has 8 different endings, at first I thought that would be a right pain to see them all. However once you've completed the game and start a new one, you are allowed to skip any puzzle sections that you received a gold prize on.
Managed to finish the game today, ill not post any spoilers about the end i got. Really enjoyed the game and was nice to play it in English. Well worth checking out if you want something original to play.
I've finished the game twice so far, first time on normal, second time on easy. I really enjoyed the story and ending even, I want to make a review of the game but I'd have to do it on my PS3 as the laptop is still down and then it'd have immense grammar and spelling mistakes and probably just look bad overall . Now I just need to wait until Persona 5 is released for 360.
